    Habitat for Humanity of Jacksonville, Inc. (HabiJax) is currently seeking a RESTORE SERVICE ASSOCIATE. HabiJax is the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a global nonprofit housing organization seeking to put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope. The HabiJax ReStores are home improvement retail outlets where new and refurbished building materials, cabinets, appliances, furniture, lighting and accessories are sold to the public at reduced prices! At the HabiJax ReStores, our staff and volunteers happily accept donations of new and gently used items. We sell those items to treasure hunters and bargain shoppers alike to raise money for our mission of eliminating substandard housing.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Responsible for assisting customers in the operation of the ReStore.  The employee will assist in the pick-up of donated items, handle and/or repair donated items, and assist customers when needed. This position requires a good driving record and skills, ability to effectively interact and communicate with others, strong time management skills, the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and a commitment to HabiJax’s mission, vision and values.

    WORK SCHEDULE:

    There are full-time and part-time opportunities available for this position. Our current ReStore hours are Monday-Saturday 9am to 6pm.

    PAY RATE:

    The starting pay rate for this position is $11.00 per hour.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Visit donor homes and other commercial locations and transport donated items such as furniture, appliances and building products to the ReStore. Comply with all vehicle operation laws for the safe operation of the company truck.
    • Use discretion and professionalism in the screening of items to ensure compliance with guidelines at the pickup location.  Make referrals if unable to accept donations.
    • Be continuously vigilant in security, safety and housekeeping of the assigned truck and its contents and tools. Load and unload donated goods safely. Comply with pick-up and inventory protocols.
    • Treat all donations with care and concern for damage prevention.
    • Maintain truck mileage records.  Report any mechanical problems with the vehicle or tools to the Donations Coordinator immediately.
    • Check for any maintenance need on vehicle daily.
    • Assist customers with loading and unloading of merchandise.
    • Accountable for meeting or exceeding all agreed-upon ReStore Service Associate goals and objectives.
    • Treat donors, customers, fellow employees and volunteers with courtesy and respect at all times as an ambassador of HabiJax.
    • Participate in special promotional events or ReStore projects as assigned
    • Be aware of and advocate for the mission, vision, and values of HabiJax and Habitat for Humanity.
    • Perform additional duties as required and directed.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • High school graduate or equivalent
    • 1-2 years previous work experience serving customers required
    • Delivery Driver / Box Truck Driver experience preferred
    • Forklift certification preferred
    • Carpentry experience preferred
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to use professional values and ethics to effectively interact with people of diverse backgrounds
    • Manage time effectively, multi-task & prioritize in order to meet established goals & deadlines
    • Decisive, flexible & work well under pressure when faced with unexpected situations or delays
    • Ability to analyze & resolve problems.
    • Computer proficiency to include the use of Microsoft Office and other required software applications
    • Valid Florida Driver’s License insurable by HabiJax’s insurance carrier
    • Able to successfully pass a background and drug screening
