    Job Description

    Accountable: ReStore Manager & ReStore Assistant Managers

    Purpose: This position is responsible for assisting in all aspects of donations in a fast-paced retail environment.

    Time Commitment: (Hourly) Saturdays required.

    Pay & Benefits: $15.00/hour pay.  Full-time employees will be eligible to receive all benefits. 

    I. RESPONSIBILITIES:

    A. General

    1. Maintain health and safety as the highest priority at all times. For example, straighten up doors, windows, screens and trim to avoid trip or fall hazards.

    2. Carry out the duties of the position in the spirit of the mission of Habitat for Humanity of the River Valley (HFHRV). We are called to serve our community as brothers and sisters in Christ and should always treat our customers, clients, donors, volunteers, co-workers, and those we come across each day in our duties as we would hope they would treat us, even when they may not.

    B. ReStore Operations

    1. Maintain health and safety as the highest priority at all times. For example, straighten up doors, windows, screens and trim to avoid trip or fall hazards.

    2. Assist customers as needed in the ReStore. This includes physically assisting customers with loading and unloading merchandise and having the ability to communicate effectively regarding ReStore inventory and the Habitat mission

    3. Handle all incoming and outgoing merchandise. This includes stocking merchandise in the proper area and tagging appliances and checking the working condition of the items

    4. Work with volunteers, future homeowners, and community service workers, providing guidance and direction in tasks that need to be completed in the store

    5. Conduct pickups of donations, including large appliances, large windows, and cabinets

    6. Ability to follow directions and read maps to destination for donation pick ups

    7. Complete opening and closing responsibilities, which include securing the building and truck, organizing ReStore merchandise, and any other duties as assigned.

    8. Must be able to operate a cash register and follow proper protocol when accepting payments

    9. Clean bathrooms weekly

    10. Must be able to operate a cash register and follow proper protocol regarding payment policies

    C. Drivers Responsibilities

    1. Maintain a valid driver’s license. If for any reason your driver’s license is revoked, suspended or restricted it is mandatory that the ReStore Manager be notified immediately

    2. Know and abide by all driving laws in all areas where the vehicle is operated

    3. Drive the vehicle in a safe and reliable manner

    4. Ensure that the vehicle is safe to drive and report any problems to the ReStore Manager

    5. Inform the ReStore Manager if you are under any medical restrictions

    6. Ensure that the vehicle contains current Proof of Insurance Card

    7. Follow the ReStore Vehicle Checklist

    8. Traffic Violations and Parking Tickets

    9. Traffic violations and parking tickets are the responsibility of the staff member driving the vehicle and must be paid immediately. At no time will HFHRV incur any expenses of this kind

    10. Any HFHMC staff that has three or more accidents or violations with a company vehicle will no longer be able to drive for the organization

    D. Other duties as assigned by ReStore Manager & ReStore Assistant Managers

     

    II. QUALIFICATIONS:

    A. Have a valid driver’s license and be insurable

    B. Ability to lift 75 lbs.

    C. Maintain an extremely flexible attitude

    D. Ability to work at a retail pace from slow to extreme and hectic conditions

    E. Ability to tolerate extreme temperature conditions (cold in winter, hot in summer)

    F. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening, subject to random drug screenings while employed
