  • Responsibilities

    PURPOSE OF POSITION:

    Responsible for coordinating activities of workers engaged in ordering and expediting raw material from outside vendors by means of formal releases. Releases are based on MRP requirements and must be reviewed weekly to ensure that production needs are met on a timely basis and inventory standards are maintained. Communicate material issues to all personnel concerned. Maintain zero obsolescence on all balance our parts.

    JOB /TASK FUNCTIONS:

    The following job/task functions have been identified as the core functions of this position. However, the supervisor or manager may assign additional duties associated with this position.

    • Supervises, coordinates, and prioritizes activities of materials personnel to meet customer, plant and management requirements.

    • “A” inventory items, review and issue new releases on a weekly basis.

    • “B” inventory items and issue new releases on a bi-monthly time table along with components and outside processing.

    • “C” inventory items and steel review monthly and issue new releases when necessary.

    • Maintain individual part number files. Files will include:
      1. Purchase part inventories.
      2. Current copy of model year P.O. maintained at the Tech Center.
      3. MRP work sheets.
      4. Vendor releases and general vendor information.
      5. Copies of correspondence to vendors.

    • Prepare steel aging reports weekly.

    • Coordinate material needs on engineering changes.

    • Communicate potential material shortages to all concerned.

    • Schedule steel deliveries according to master schedule.

    • Communicate potential shortages to Material Manager.

    • Review EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) releases and verify against JIT (shipping schedule).

    • Identify any shortages and report them to the Inventory Control Manager and Scheduler.

    • Performs all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to TOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, etc.)

    • Participates in continuous improvement activities.

    • Assumes other duties as directed by supervisor.

    Cycle counts raw material and makes adjustments as necessary.

    • Responsible for reading and understanding the TS16949 and ISO-14001 procedures located at K:/winapps/data/TS Team/Procedures
    • Minimum of two years materials experience, MQ1 and QAD experience at an intermediate level. Valid Driver’s license and ability to obtain a forklift license is required.

    Required Experience

    Education and/or Experience:

    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five years plus related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


    Language Skills :

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

    Mathematical Skills :

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Business Judgment:

    Ability to adhere to all company policies and procedures in a professional and consistent manner. Able to apply common sense understanding and use appropriate judgment in routine business situations with supervisor, co-workers and customers. Maintain the ultimate example of business judgment and professional conduct at all times. The ability to understand and strictly follow both internal and external business ethics and standards.



    Technical Skills:

    Ability to work with the following software packages or programs:

    · Microsoft Office at an intermediate level

    · Microsoft Project at an intermediate level

    · Effective email and electronic communication skills are required

    Ability to work with the following data base programs and/or hardware:

    · MQ1 database at an intermediate level

    · QAD database at an advanced level

    Ability to work with the following tools or machinery

    • Forklift
