    Job Description

    Hagie Manufacturing is seeking a qualified candidate to be part of our MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING team as a MANUFACTURING ENGINEER – PARTS BUSINESS UNIT in Clarion, IA. This position plans, coordinates, and performs manufacturing engineering work for a project or process. Operates in a team environment within the enterprise product delivery process and the enterprise order fulfillment process. At this level, projects are of moderate scope and responsibility or may be a significant portion of a major and diverse project or process. Decisions are made within established guidelines and may be reviewed by managers. May assign, coordinate and review portions of the work for support personnel, contractors, and suppliers.      

    _ _ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • FOCUS TO BE ON THE WELD AREA OF THE BUSINESS with the ability to flex into paint and fabrication..
    • Provides support and basic trouble shooting for current operations. Investigates, gathers, and analyzes data for specifically assigned, recurring tasks.
    • Establishes routings, methods, layouts, tools, costs, methods documentation, quality plans and labor standards for revisions to current operations and/or new parts or programs of limited scope.
    • Identifies and implements cost reduction, quality, safety, and ergonomic improvement ideas of limited scope.
    • Works with electronic tools to perform engineering functions.
    • Develops and implements projects of moderate scope to support operations efficiency, capital improvements and factory master planning. Project categories could include: new manufacturing processes, updated department layouts, capital equipment purchases, and factory automation.
    • Coordinates implementation activities with functional disciplines to plan and execute projects.
    • Develops, tracks, and meets the capital and expense budget at the project level.
    • Schedules and tracks progress of all aspects of the project to aggressively work toward successful project completion in a timely manner.

    _ _REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

    • Background in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, power systems, etc.). - Has a general understanding of the principles and uses the knowledge with assistance.
    • Skill in using computer aided design and/or engineering tools. - Has a general understanding of the principles and uses the knowledge with assistance.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing and/or distribution processes, quality, tooling, tool design, total preventative maintenance, and facilities. - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
    • Has experience in making quality, efficiency, and safety improvements.
    • Knowledge of capital budgeting and capital equipment justification process. - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
    • ·Knowledge of process management principles, tools, and integration. - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
    • ·Experience in one or more related engineering areas: industrial, production, methods, reliability, design, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution, quality. - Less than 1 year
    • Proficient with MS Office including Excel, Visio, and SharePoint.
    • Manufacturing and/or operations experience. – 1 - 3 years
    • Project management experience including plan development, budget management, team management, requirements gathering, delivery and deployment. – 1 - 3 years
    • Previous experience in developing and managing capital and expense budget process. – 1 - 3 years

    _ _EDUCATION:

    • Degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline or 10 years of relevant Manufacturing experience in lieu of a degree.
