Responsibilities: • Ensure all statutory deadlines related to education law and special needs cases in El Segundo, CA, US are met • Stay informed about the latest state and federal education policies and regulations impacting clients in the area • Participate in the administrative law process to provide effective representation for clients • Create well-crafted pleadings and Due Process Complaints that are customized to the specific circumstances of each case • Coordinate client meetings and maintain open lines of communication to address their legal requirements promptly • Develop legal strategies and offer guidance on the most suitable courses of action for clients • Advise clients on their litigation options and potential settlements based on their individual situations • Thoroughly prepare clients for hearings and investigations to ensure they can effectively present their case • Review Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans to advocate for clients' educational rights • Represent clients efficiently at hearings with the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) • Draft and respond to motions as part of the legal proceedings • Provide representation for clients in disciplinary hearings and Title IX matters when needed • Manage cases from initiation through trial, ensuring a comprehensive and strategic approach to each case Qualifications: • Must be a graduate of an ABA or California-accredited law school and hold an active membership with the State Bar of California • Should have a spotless disciplinary record with any State Bar • Must have proven experience of 3-5 years in State and/or Federal Education Law • Proficiency in clear and effective communication is essential • Capable of efficiently tracking and meeting minimum billable requirements • Must be a strong advocate for teamwork and contributing to the team's success in achieving its mission • Display a desire to assist others with compassion and empathy • Should be confident, independent, decisive, and willing to be accountable for your decisions • A strategic thinker with the ability to visualize the big picture while executing tasks effectively Compensation: $130,000 - $150,000 yearly
