  • Responsibilities

    FULL-TIME SHIFT: MONDAY-FRIDAY ; 4P.M.-12A.M.

    FUNCTION:

    The Security Support staff is responsible for monitoring the activities of residents and ensuring compliance with program rules and conditions.  The Security Support staff ensures the safe custody and accountability of all residents entering, exiting the facility, and those in the community.

    EFFECT ON END RESULTS:

    1. Ensures a safe, secure and efficient facility and program 24 hours per day.
    2. Ensures safety of resident and staff in fire and other emergencies.
    3. Ensures resident compliance with VOAC and FBOP policies and rules.
    4. Encourages residents’ successful completion of the program.

    Required Skills

    • Candidates must undergo and pass Federal Bureau of Prisons Clearance which requires fingerprinting and will include disclosure of any past adult criminal activity*
    • Comfortable working with individuals coming out of incarceration or on probation as they re-enter into the community
    • Must be able to commit to assigned shift once agreed upon
    • Must have a negative-results on Drug and TB Screening
    • CPR/First Aid Certification must be acquired and maintained once employed 
    • This position does not require driving

     

    *Past criminal activity is not an automatic disqualification. Grounds for disqualification is considered on a case-by-case basis and according to applicable governing laws and regulations.

    OTHER:

    Position requires the ability to interact and communicate effectively with others and work comfortably in a community corrections environment. 

    Security Support staff shall possess the following skills:  Report writing, assessment of character/behavior, and behavior management.  To ensure proper staffing for a 24/7/365 operation, employees may be required to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays and/or mandatory overtime.

    Required Experience

    1-2 years experiences in a Human Services, security, corrections field or related field.
