MAJOR FUNCTION: The Assistant to the Dean is housed within the Admissions and Records Office and will report directly to the Dean. The Assistant to the Dean (ATD) functions as a generalist within assigned areas of responsibility. Duties include, but are not limited to:
MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of administrative experience.
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Knowledge of TCC policies and procedures. Knowledge of office procedures and practices. Knowledge of computer technology and software used in an educational environment. Knowledge of administrative principles and practices of postsecondary education. Knowledge of budget management. Knowledge of methods of data collection and interpretation. Knowledge of project development and management. Knowledge of research methods. Proficient in word processing, data base management, and spreadsheet software. Proficient in effective oral and written communication. Ability to work independently or as part of a group. Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks, which are complex and broad in nature. Ability to use excellent time management skills. Ability to prepare correspondence and administrative reports. Ability to work with diverse people and in diverse situations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques. Ability to critically assess situations and make sound judgments. Ability to represent the division and the college in a professional manner.
