- Perform all Machinist duties which entail using lathes, milling machines, surface grinder, hydraulic press, mig, stick and tig welders. Plasma and cutting torches are also required. Use of different types of measurement tools will be necessary.
- Interpret the accuracy of engineering drawings and manufacturer''s prints or handmade sketches and make necessary arrangements to correct errors.
- Track material needs of shop based on requirements from work orders, projects or general repair and maintenance needs and requisition materials or supplies.
- Diagnose and correct problems and malfunctions with plant utilities systems such as natural gas supply piping and meters
- Diagnose and correct problems gear boxes, pumps and bearings.
- Operate sheer breaks and benders along metal fabrication hand tools.
- Make repairs or correct problems with manufacturing machines to keep machines in operation via work order or other written or verbal instructions.
- Disassemble, move, install, align and put into operation new and used machines and equipment.
- Provide detailed information to Electromechanical Leader, maintenance clerk and maintenance manager.
- Follow departmental and facility safe work practices and maintain a safe working environment.
- Operate a forklift and high lift equipment.
- Work overtime and carry a cell phone for call-in for emergency machining or mechanical repairs.
- Provide assistance to electromechanical technicians on mechanical repairs and PM''S
Required Skills
Required Experience
- Read, write and perform moderate to complex mathematical problems.
- At least five years'' experience as Machinist.
- At least 3 years'' experience in a custom fabrication machine shop.
- Familiarity with SMAW, TIG, FCAW, and MIG welding processes; welding certification is preferred.
- Proficiency reading and interpreting complex mechanical and architectural drawings, blueprints, manuals and assembly prints.
- Ability to research information and resources on the internet
- Forklift certification required.
- Advanced diagnostic skills to determine and repair malfunctions in production machines.
- Exposed to highly sensitive machine and equipment designs, plans and documents.
- Encouraged to improve machine design or production methods.
