    PROFESSIONAL/TECHNICAL, HOURLY TUTOR – SCIENCES (ASTRONOMY/BIOLOGY/BIOLOGY A&P/CHEMISTRY/GEOLOGY/PHYSICS, BOULDER COUNTY CAMPUS

     

     

    GENERAL SUMMARY  

     

    Tutors are responsible for providing academic support to students taking classes at Front Range Community College.  A content-based tutor will work directly with the student to determine the student’s level of understanding of the material, answer questions, and supply additional detail to help students to be able to better understand the concepts taught in the classroom.  Tutoring is a part-time position; tutors are called upon as needed for their areas of expertise.  To see the current listing of tutors needed, please check our'Information for Prospective Tutors' link.

    Preliminary screening will be made on the basis of completed application package submitted by candidate.  Completed application package includes:

     

    1. A LETTER OF INTEREST DETAILING EXPERIENCE AS RELATED TO THE POSITION;
    2. AN EFORM APPLICATION;
    3. A RESUME.
    4. A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS.

    Most tutors work with assigned students on the academic content of classes. This includes the following:

    • Confirm scheduled sessions with students and the Tutor Coordinator
    • Communicate with the Tutor Coordinator any scheduling changes
    • Complete all necessary paperwork including the Tutoring Expectation Agreement, ongoing attendance records, and payroll forms
    • Meet with assigned students weekly, and on campus
    • Attend in-service meetings as scheduled

     

     SALARY RANGE:  $15.40 - $18.80 per hour depending on level of degree and years of experience.

    Required Skills

    REQUIRED EDUCATION

    • Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in the area of study.

    Required Experience

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

    A minimum of 0-3 years teaching/tutoring or equivalent.
