Perfect Surface is looking for a leader and decision-maker to join our leadership team as Chief of Staff. This role is 20% strategy and 80% execution (because execution eats strategy for breakfast) and will report directly to the President. This role will focus on converting our most important strategic goals into tangible, actionable tasks and activities at every level of the organization.

HOW THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER CHIEF OF STAFF ROLE

Perfect Surface is a small, gritty service business (think Dirty jobs), owned by an ambitious MBA and rapidly transforming into a multi-service, multi-state operation. You'll be the first person to fill this role and will be crucial to achieving that transformation. The role will evolve over your tenure, but it will be HIGHLY TACTICAL for the foreseeable future. Strong performance in this role could earn you the opportunity and support to run a business of your own in the future.

HERE IS A SAMPLE OF ACTIVITIES YOU'LL BE ENGAGED IN:

    1. Finance/Accounting - Break out the pivot tables to help the accounting team build a priority list for delinquent customers and develop scripts for collection calls. Participate in making those calls occasionally.
    2. Sales/Customer Service: Jump in the car with one of our Account Representatives to help resolve a sticky customer service complaint or close a new account.
    3. HR - Update job descriptions for recruiting efforts, manage job postings and recruiting process.
    4. R&D - Jump into the warehouse to work with one of our seasoned technicians to develop a new color scheme for a new multistate customer.
    5. Board Engagement - Compile and occasionally present critical financial, operational and other insights from monthly, quarterly and annual performance.
    6. M&A - Develop and execute 30/60/90-day plans for new acquisition integration.
    7. Legal - Create a draft for a new employee contract for a new service line and work with external legal team to get contract ratified and in place.
    8. Technology - Serve as in-house project manager for the implementation of new software systems, working with external resources to ensure seamless transitions.
    9. Org Goal Setting - Create and update dashboard metrics for performance tracking, holding key stakeholders accountable.
    10. Whatever it takes - Take the large trash bins to the street on Monday mornings, occasionally make lunch runs for office staff or bring supplies to field technicians.
