StaffBuffalo is partnering with an established advanced manufacturing organization in Buffalo, NY to hire a Hand Grind & Polish Technician, offering $20.00–$23.00 per hour, depending on experience. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with mechanical aptitude who enjoys working with tools, reading blueprints, and producing high-quality finished components in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.

    As the Hand Grind & Polish Technician, you'll be responsible for deburring, grinding, cleaning, and polishing machined steel and aluminum components according to engineering prints and customer specifications. You'll use a variety of pneumatic and hand tools to achieve required finishes, install Helicoils and Keenserts, and carefully inspect your work to ensure components meet established quality requirements.

    The ideal Hand Grind & Polish Technician is dependable, mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and willing to learn. Previous manufacturing experience is preferred, but this position is also a strong opportunity for someone with the right mechanical foundation who wants to expand their skills through hands-on experience and cross-training. You'll work within an organization that values quality, safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement while gaining exposure to other areas of the manufacturing operation.

    This is a full-time, onsite position in Buffalo, NY.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Deburr, grind, and polish machined steel and aluminum components according to blueprints, customer specifications, and established quality requirements.
    • Operate pneumatic and hand tools safely and effectively to remove burrs and achieve specified surface finishes.
    • Read and interpret blueprints, prints, and work instructions to ensure components meet required specifications.
    • Install Helicoils, Keenserts, and related inserts into manufactured components as required.
    • Clean and wash completed parts while inspecting work for quality and accuracy.
    • Follow established safety procedures, PPE requirements, company policies, and ISO standards.
    • Cross-train and assist within other manufacturing departments as needed to support production requirements.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Approximately 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
    • Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand and pneumatic tools.
    • Ability to read and understand blueprints, prints, and customer specifications.
    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce consistent, high-quality finished components.
    • Basic computer knowledge.
    • Ability to follow established safety procedures and properly use required PPE.
    • Dependable, organized, and willing to learn and cross-train in other areas of manufacturing.
    • Experience operating overhead cranes is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
