    Job Summary:

    We are looking for a skilled Handyman to join our team at the Dallas VA Medical Center working under government supervision.! In this role, you will perform residential and light commercial maintenance work that may include pipe fitting, insulating, welding, repairing electrical or mechanical equipment, repairing buildings, floors, or stairs, and installing new equipment.

    You are hard-working, a team player, and dedicated to performing quality work in all that you do. Significant past experience as a professional maintenance worker is highly preferred and a positive attitude is a must!

    Responsibilities: Responsibilities include:

    Altering and installing walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, doors, and windows, including associated trim and finishes.

    Constructing new drywall partitions and other temporary wood-framed structures.

    Installing windows and doors, including mortising doors and frames for lock strike plates and keepers.

    Installing acoustical ceilings and floor coverings, including carpet and other flooring materials.

    Building concrete forms for sidewalks, curbing, and steps.

    Working with Formica, laminate coverings, and paneling.

    Fabricating furniture such as tables, cabinets, and workbenches.

    Constructing and installing bulletin boards, chalkboards, cabinets, and shelving.

    Dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, or power tools

    Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions

    Repair machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices

    Interact with customers in a professional and friendly manner

    Qualifications:

    Previous experience as a handyman / general maintenance

    Knowledge of job site safety rules and regulations (OSHA)

    Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in carpentry

    Ability to read and interpret blueprints

    Must be qualified to perform at heights above thirty (30) feet with the use of a ladder, lift, or bucket truck boom

    Ability to lift 40+ lbs on a consistent basis
