Job Description

Hansen & Rosasco, LLP is a boutique law firm located in Long Island and New York City that exclusively represents 9/11 victims before the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund. We have immediate openings for full-time Legal Assistants. The team members we are seeking are smart, hard working, self directed, energetic, creative, and empathetic. We are looking for team players, who will also thrive while working independently.

This is an onsite position in Hauppauge, Long Island. The position has heavy client contact and requires excellent writing and communication skills. Legal Assistants are entry level—while prior law firm experience is useful, it is not required.

The Legal Assistants’ responsibilities and requirements include the following:

Responsibilities

• Communicates with attorneys, clients, staff, and others to discuss assigned cases or projects.
• Interviews clients and witnesses and assists them in the preparation of their statements.
• Retrieves and compiles supporting information and documentation for clients’ claims as needed.
• Interfaces with clients’ employers, unions, physicians, and others, as required.
• Assists other staff with administrative tasks, projects, etc.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability and willingness to learn new computer programs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Prior phone experience is helpful but not required
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to function in a fast paced, sometimes stressful environment
• Self-directed, independent, and empathetic
• Fully vaccinated against Covid-19
