Hansen Talent Group is hiring a COBOL/Mainframe Developer to work with one of the largest enterprises in Columbia, SC. This role will be responsible for the full lifecycle of complex application programs, including: analysis, design, coding, testing and any necessary debugging.
This is a hybrid role requiring 2 days/week on-site in Columbia, SC.
What You'll Do:
- Conduct comprehensive analysis, design, programming, and implementation of systems and procedures to address intricate business or scientific challenges.
- Collaborate closely with customers, business analysts, and team members to comprehend business requirements, steering the creation of high-quality technical solutions.
- Architect and develop IT systems, introducing innovative data sources and employing new methodologies to enhance efficiency.
- Engage in the entire systems life cycle, overseeing the design, coding, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support of complex application software, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery.
- Provide mentorship to lower-level programmers/analysts and serve as an internal consultant, offering technical guidance on intricate projects.
- Identify and resolve issues in collaboration with other systems analysts, programmers, and system users.
- Thoroughly test designed and modified programs, validate logic, conduct necessary debugging, and document the process.
Skills and Abilities:
- 6 years-of application development and systems testing experience.
- In-depth expertise in pertinent operating systems, programming languages, and development tools.
- Thorough comprehension of applications/development, quality assurance, and integration methodologies, encompassing mainframe, midrange, and/or PC/LAN environments.
- Exhibits advanced technical proficiency in programming languages, platform capabilities, and methods of systems analysis and program design.
- Exceptional analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
- Displays logical abstract thinking and adeptly aligns with project goals and deadlines.
- Familiar with project management concepts and working in a Waterfall environment.
- Ability to assess requirements, alternatives, and risks/benefits for low- to high-impact projects.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Able to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
