Happy Day Catering is seeking applicants for the position of Event Staff & Event Packer. We are offering a $100 hiring incentive in the form of a Happy Day Restaurants gift card to the successful applicant! Catering is a busy business where everyone pitches in as needed to make a smooth and successful event. This position encapsulates that experience. During the day, you will pack all required items for catering events (service supplies, linens, décor, etc.), unpack after events, inventory and organize our pack and décor rooms, wash and steam linens, and complete other related duties. Extreme attention to detail and high-level organizational skills are necessary for success here. On events throughout the day or in the evenings and on weekends, you will be helping to deliver, set up, break down, and serve at catered parties in the LC Valley and surrounding communities.
The successful applicant will be reliable, energetic, and willing to learn and maintain Happy Day’s high standards so our clients receive the best service possible. Catering is a fast-paced world where problems must be fixed quickly—staff must be able to swiftly and creatively implement solutions. As the face of Happy Day Catering at events, a professional and enthusiastic attitude is a must, as you will regularly be around and interacting with event hosts and guests. We have vision for this position! The successful applicant will eventually transition to Lead Event Staff, running events on their own and leading a team in the field. You must pass the ID Food Safety Exam to do so.
This position will require 30 to 40 hours per week. Hourly schedule is flexible and variable, Monday through Saturday, depending on the type and volume of catering events booked for the week. Evening work will sometimes be required. Packing hours will occur during the weekdays; event hours may be in the evening and weekends.
Starting wage is $10/hr plus gratuity for applicable event hours.
Qualifications:
For driving insurance purposes, applicants must be at least 20 years old.
Ability to work evenings and Saturdays is required
Professional demeanor and polished appearance
Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with guests, clients, and coworkers
Resourceful, creative, and able to quickly formulate solutions
Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task
Access to reliable transportation
Previous food and customer service experience preferred
Ability to stand for long periods of time

Applicants who would like to advance to Lead Event Staff must also pass the Idaho Food Safety Exam.
