    Payroll & Benefits Coordinator

    Harding Shymanski & Company, P.S.C. is currently seeking an experienced Payroll and Benefits Coordinator to handle the firm’s internal payroll function. This payroll position is not client facing and will be staffed out of our Evansville office.

    This position is full time with some expanded hours during periods required by the payroll position.

    Must Have Requirements:

    • 5+ years of payroll and benefits experience with an emphasis on payroll tax knowledge, a strong understanding of payroll rules and taxability of various earnings codes & deduction codes.
    • High school diploma/GED.
    • Previous experience in payroll and benefits.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Good math and communication skills.
    • Team player.
    • Capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to self-start and manage projects independently.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills with co-workers.
    • Proficient in the use of Excel.
    • Motivated to work as team member and to be able to build consensus to implement new ideas and procedures that are deemed necessary.

    Nice But Not Required:

    • Degree in accounting or related field preferred.

    Job Duties:

    • Entering employee information and payroll data into the outsourced payroll system.
    • Answering employees' questions and concerns regarding payroll.
    • Reconciling hours, commissions, bonuses, taxes, and deductions.
    • Processing new employees, promotions, and terminations in the payroll system.
    • Issuing statements detailing earnings and deductions.
    • Investigating and resolving payroll discrepancies.
    • Maintaining and updating payroll records.
    • Preparing periodic payroll reports.
    • Assist in any other payroll related area required by the firm on an as-requested basis.
    • Administration of the firm’s 401(k) and Section 125 plans.
    • Processing Flexible Spending Account Reimbursements.
    • Coordinating 401K Plan activities with Service Provider and Auditors.
    • Designing personnel forms and workflows.
    • Calculating Budget and Profit Sharing.
