Title: Hardware Configuration Specialist
Location: Ithaca, New York - ONSITE
Job Description: As a Hardware Configuration Specialist, you will be a key member of the Supply Chain team. You will work closely with the Warehouse team to support daily hardware preparation and staging operations. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Services team to ensure all hardware configuration and deployment projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Configure, image, and stage IT and payment hardware to meet deployment and security specifications
- Perform functional and diagnostic testing to validate system integrity and readiness
- Apply Windows updates, drivers, and security patches to ensure compliance and performance
- Complete light hardware assembly including drilling, mounting, wiring, and heat-shrinking components to create deployment-ready products
- Prioritize hardware configuration tasks to align with project deadlines and client SLAs.
- Verify hardware components against the customer's order to ensure accuracy
- Configure credit card terminals and assist with client-specific integration requirements.
- Perform physical card evaluations, manage results, and provide input during project reviews to support accurate product selection and ordering
- Maintain and enforce high standards for documentation, deployment tracking, and evaluation reporting
- Support inventory processes related to configured/assembled hardware, including receiving, stock control, and shipping preparation
- Collaborate with project managers, supply chain, and logistics teams to align hardware preparation with deployment timelines and business needs
- Identify opportunities to improve assembly and configuration workflows, leading initiatives to increase efficiency and quality
- Provide technical support during pre-deployment and go-live activities
- Perform other duties and specials projects as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical/Mechanical Technology, Engineering or a related field preferred but not required in lieu of experience
- Experience in hardware configuration, imaging, and staging; experience with light assembly (drilling, mounting, wiring, heat-shrinking) strongly preferred
- Familiar with imaging tools (e.g., MDT, SCCM), inventory management systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics), and diagnostic utilities preferred
- Technical knowledge of Windows OS, hardware components, payment terminals (e.g., Verifone), and basic electrical/electronic concepts preferred
- Experience conducting physical card evaluations and documenting results for project or product selection preferred
- Ability to manage workflows, prioritize tasks, and serve as the escalation point for hardware assembly and configuration issues
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot both technical and assembly-related issues
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong general technical/computer skills (Office365, web applications, network, etc.)
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to manage multiple short duration projects simultaneously
