Hardware Technician — IT Asset Disposition Naples, FL · Full-time · On-site · Reports to the Operations Manager

About Exit Technologies Exit Technologies is the go-to ITAD partner for high-performance and enterprise-scale technology environments. Our mission is to make IT asset disposition effortless — delivering expert recovery and redistribution so our clients can focus on what they do best. Our vision is to become the global ITAD standard that maximizes asset recovery, safeguards brands, and puts value back into the economy. We work with the dense, high-value, complex computing environments others can’t handle: AI compute and acceleration-cloud providers, GPU-as-a-Service platforms, foundation model labs, VFX and CGI render farms, SaaS and hosting providers, healthcare systems requiring certified data destruction, and liquidators managing distressed-asset technology. The Role This isn’t wiping old laptops. As a Hardware Technician at Exit, you’ll process the cutting-edge GPUs, enterprise servers, storage arrays, and high-end workstations that come out of AI data centers, render farms, and HPC environments — securely sanitizing data, testing and grading equipment, and preparing it for a profitable second life. You’ll work inside an R2-certified facility where every device is handled to documented, auditable standards. Done right, your work protects our clients’ data, preserves the value of expensive hardware, and keeps usable technology out of the waste stream. What You’ll Do Data security & sanitization • Sanitize all data-bearing devices strictly per approved company procedures and R2 requirements, including applicable NIST 800-88 methods. • Verify and document successful sanitization before any reuse, resale, or downstream transfer. • Maintain continuous chain-of-custody for IT assets throughout processing. • Immediately report and segregate any device that fails sanitization or presents a data-security exception. Asset processing & testing • Reset equipment to factory settings and install authorized operating systems as required for reuse. • Conduct functional testing against defined parameters to verify condition and performance. • Accurately grade equipment based on documented testing results and refurbishment standards. • Identify, document, and disposition non-conforming or non-functional assets per approved workflows. Documentation & traceability • Record serial numbers, asset identifiers, testing results, sanitization status, and disposition outcomes in the company ERP / asset-tracking system. • Keep records complete, accurate, and audit-ready to support R2 traceability and downstream due diligence. • Apply correct labeling and asset identification to maintain traceability throughout the facility. Compliance & R2 requirements • Follow all R2-controlled processes for data security, environmental health & safety (EHS), and quality management. • Adhere to documented work instructions, SOPs, and change controls. • Support internal and external R2 audits through proper documentation, work practices, and asset handling. Packaging & shipping for reuse • Package IT assets to documented standards to prevent damage and preserve resale value. • Verify assets are correctly labeled and matched to documentation before shipment. • Maintain segregation between sanitized/unsanitized, tested/untested, and conforming/non- conforming assets as required by R2. What You Bring Must-haves • High school diploma or equivalent. • Experience in ITAD, electronics recycling, refurbishment, or technical hardware processing. • Understanding of data-security principles and controlled handling of data-bearing devices. • Ability to follow documented procedures and compliance-driven workflows accurately. • Experience using ERP or asset-tracking systems, with strong attention to detail. Nice-to-haves • Experience in an R2-certified or ISO-aligned ITAD facility. • Familiarity with R2 requirements for data sanitization, reuse, and traceability, and with NIST 800-88 standards. • Experience installing Windows, Linux, or macOS operating systems. • CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certification. Physical & Work Environment • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. • Ability to work in a warehouse and technical-processing environment. • Compliance with ESD, safety, and security controls at all times.
