Hardwood Installer / Hardwood Refinisher
Benefits:
Company parties
Flexible schedule
Opportunity for advancement
Floor Coverings International Boulder is looking to add a skilled hardwood installer and hardwood refinisher subcontractor to our installation network. We are a locally owned flooring company serving Boulder County and surrounding communities, and we are looking for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, communicates professionally, and is willing to represent our brand at a high level in our customers’ homes.
This is a subcontractor opportunity, not a W-2 employee position. We pay fair market rates by the square foot installed or refinished, and we work hard to treat our subcontractor partners with the same respect, communication, and professionalism we expect from our internal team.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for an experienced hardwood professional who can handle a range of residential hardwood projects, including:
Solid hardwood installation
Engineered hardwood installation
Nail-down, glue-down, and glue-assist applications
Hardwood refinishing and sand-and-finish projects
Stain sampling and finish application
Water-based and oil-based finish systems
Lace-in / tooth-in repairs and additions
Stair work, treads, risers, nosings, and transitions
High-end residential projects where detail, cleanliness, and professionalism matter
Refinishing experience is especially important. We are looking for a subcontractor who understands sanding sequences, stain consistency, dust mitigation, finish quality, and the level of detail required in occupied homes.
Professional Standards
Because our installation crews are often the final and most visible part of the customer experience, professionalism is critical. We are looking for subcontractors who understand that they are representing Floor Coverings International while on site.
Requirements include:
Well-maintained work vehicle, ideally with no competing company logos
Clean, professional appearance on job sites
Respectful communication with customers, team members, and other trades
At least one English-speaking installer on every job
Strong job-site cleanliness and dust mitigation standards
Ability to follow scope of work details and communicate questions before problems arise
Willingness to represent our brand with care, professionalism, and accountability
Required Credentials
All subcontractors must be able to provide:
Proof of commercial general liability insurance
Proof of workers’ compensation insurance
Ability to pass a background check
References or examples of prior hardwood installation and refinishing work
Confirmation that all crew members are legally authorized to work
Ideal Candidate
The ideal subcontractor is someone who is highly skilled, reliable, and looking to build a long-term relationship with a growing flooring company. We value hardwood professionals who take pride in craftsmanship, understand the technical details of wood flooring, show up prepared, communicate clearly, and care about the customer experience as much as the finished floor.
We are not looking for the lowest-cost installer. We are looking for quality partners who want consistent work, clear expectations, fair pay, and a professional relationship built on trust.
Compensation
Compensation is paid at fair market rates by the square foot installed or refinished, based on project type and scope. Rates may vary depending on installation complexity, including site conditions, prep work, stairs, lace-ins, custom staining, finish systems, and other project-specific requirements.
