  • Responsibilities

    Our Plant Engineering, Technical Support and Maintenance Department support the nuclear fuel manufacturing facility. The group consists of three teams; Mechanical/Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Software Engineering. The right candidate will be part of the Mechanical Engineering Team.

    Framatome is seeking a Mechanical Designer. Duties includes:

    • Design and maintenance of nuclear fuel fabrication plant manufacturing equipment
    • Design mechanical systems that satisfy applicable mechanical standards, human factors, installation/cost, and maintenance best practices.
    • Oversee field work including new installations, integration into existing systems, and troubleshooting as required.
    • Ensure components and assemblies adhere to applicable industry and business standards
    • Consults with engineering staff and technicians/craft to ensure compliance with design specifications and plant or industry standards.
    • Apply advanced techniques in CAD and incorporate standard design applications.
    • Start up, commissioning, operations, and maintenance of process and production equipment and associated facilities and support systems.
    • Support of 24/7 fuel manufacturing facility in engineering projects and maintenance.

    The candidate will be required to learn existing plant systems and support improvement projects and maintenance activities at a facility with highly automated chemical processing and assembly equipment.

    Required Skills:

    • 10 years minimum of design work in a manufacturing environment. Metal fabrication (Machining, Sheetmetal, Welding, Forming, etc…)
    • Mechanical, Piping, Equipment Layouts Machine Design
    • 5+ years Solidworks and/or AutoCAD design experience
    • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 standard
    • Design knowledge and application using motion control components. Motors, Linear actuators, Pneumatics, etc.
    • Good communication skills including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data.
    • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal working relationships.
    • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
    • Familiarity with maintenance or project engineering in an industrial/commercial facility.
    • Well organized, with attention to detail
    • Proficiency with PC-based applications such as MS Office

    Preferred Skills:

    • Mechanical Engineering Degree or graduating Senior in an ABET Accredited Mechanical Engineering Program.

    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Familiar with AutoCAD Vault PDM system, AutoCAD P&ID, Solidworks Routing
    • Knowledge of standards: ASME B31.1 B31.3, AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.3
    • Knowledge of OSHA, WISHA standards related to machine guarding

    WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Work performed in a store environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopies and fax machines. Use of personal cell phone for customer contact and follow up and personal computer tablet for room sketching.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to view, see, manipulate and handle product to demonstrate to customers. The employee continuously walks or stands on the store’s showroom floor. Stands for extended periods of time. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and required to lift and carry small items up to 30 pounds, such as lamps, etc.

    EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

    Flexible schedule (evenings, weekends, holidays and key days required). Required to work a rotated scheduled in a mattress store as business needs mandate.
