    Job description

    Harmony At Home is seeking a Part-Time or Full-Time School Counselor to support and grow our Sticks & Stones and Community Programs and its counseling staff. The School Counselor will be under the general direction of the Counseling Programs Manager.

    The job duties will include:

    Counseling to students, parents, and/or families

    Classroom and playground observation, helping teachers manage difficult behavioral issues

    Maintain a full caseload (If services are offered via Telehealth, the School Counselor should be able to see at least 1 student per hour assigned. If services are offered in person, the School Counselor should be able to see roughly an average of one dyad/group per hour assigned).

    Maintain client files on a daily or weekly basis – so as not to omit information because of a lapse in time. Ensure progress notes are signed off by treating therapist.

    Keep communications open with school and community partner’s personnel including, but not limited to, the Principal, Teachers and Administrators

    Track hours at the school and/or community site while counseling and doing paperwork

    Attend Supervision with your assigned Clinical Supervisor

    Submit monthly reports and any other reports that may be required that are equally vital to the office in a timely manner

    File reports to Child Protective Services (CPS) upon any reasonable suspicion of child abuse and alert the Principal or Administrator for your school or community site

    Report to your Clinical Supervisors any issues related to client welfare and report to the Program Director any program or agency issues

    Part -Time or Full-Time School Counselor hours are broken down as follows:

    During the school year, 8-32 hours of school counseling per week for 35 weeks

    SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

    Currently in a MA Degree program or Graduated with a MA Degree in Counseling, Psychology or Social Work or Licensed.

    Counselors are required to attend an orientation at the start of each school year – to be trained on current requirements and methodologies exacted by Harmony At Home. Orientation/Training is mandatory. Trainees and Interns can receive training hours signed off by their Clinical Supervisors. Licensed Therapists can obtain CEU's as HAH is a BBS approved training site.

    All counselors must have training in Law and Ethics and adhere to practices set forth by HAH. All counseling staff is to provide HAH with confirmation that they have obtained education on Law and Ethics every two years. These standards will be reviewed during orientation. HAH’s Program Director, Executive Director and Supervisors hold an open door policy. When in doubt – contact one of them. Any violation of legal or ethical standards will be reported to the Board of Behavioral Sciences

    Other duties as assigned.

    This job requires that you submit to a TB test. Employees can get this test performed at Monterey Bay Urgent Care for a small fee, and employee will be reimbursed

    This job requires that you submit to a background check. Any subsequent arrests after hire could be grounds for termination.

    There will be a 90 day probationary period to train on the job duties and evaluate appropriateness and effectiveness in the position.
