    DESIGN DEPARTMENT ASSISTANT (HARPER CONSTRUCTION CO. INC.)

    Harper Construction Co. Inc. is a family owned Design Build Firm specializing in the Design Management and Construction of multi-million dollar projects for the Dept. of Defense (Military), Community Colleges, and Private Owners on various building types.

    The Design Department Assistant position is a full time position located in the main office in San Diego within the Design Management Department.

    A brief job description is provided below:

    • Supervised by and work under the direction of a Design Administration Manager in support of Harper Design Managers.
    • Follow design schedules.
      • Ensure all design consultants have been provided and understand the design durations and due dates
    • Active participation with the Design Department Staff to coordinate design consultants & Design Build subcontractors
      • Ensure documents are coordinated with other design disciplines prior to owner submittal
    • Take & prepare meeting minutes
    • Assist with preparation of contracts and change orders
    • Keep track of/update all Design Analysis documentation (narratives, reports, calculations, etc.)
    • Keep track of Owner Design Review Comments
      • Confirm all Owner comments have been provided with annotated responses prior to the next design submittal
    • Take active role in preparing design submittals
      • Ensure Design Submittals are complete before distribution to the Owner
      • Assist the Design Administration Manager to print, assemble, package and any perform other tasks required to complete any Design Submittals and Contract Deliverables

    Must be proficient in Word, Excel & Outlook. 

    Prefer candidate to have some experience in either Bluebeam and/or Adobe.

    Experience in SpecsIntact and/or Procore a plus.

    Hours: 8am – 5pm, 5 days a week
