    JOB SUMMARY

    The facility at Turners Falls is seeking an experienced Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineer to help us manage our growing business. In this role, you will insure effective implementation and ongoing effectiveness of High Performance Teams (HPTs) and plant CI efforts. You will assess current state performance, identify gaps, visualize and establish a plan to get to the future state, monitor progress, and help us to acquire and share best‐in‐class ideas and systems. You will also own the HPT process, including direct interaction with teams, supervisors, managers, star guides, Plant Manager, etc. The new Continuous Improvement Engineer will report directly to the Plant Manager.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

      CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT (CI)

    • Identify gaps in Best Business Practice Metrics (BBP's); work with all levels of the plant in establishing and executing a strategy for improving them
    • Assess the current state of the plant's Operations; develop Future State vision and drive and monitor the implementation plan
    • Ensure process owner involvement in SOW development and team leadership; apply correct approach / DMAIC tools for improvement
    • Collaborate with leadership to develop a plant CI Roadmap, driving breakthrough or best‐in‐class performance that balances resources between internal plant efficiency and external customer‐focused effectiveness projects
    • Document improvement process learning and shares best practices with other facilities
    • Assist Plant Manager in any strategic initiatives related to compliance standards, implementation of new systems, and designing creative solutions to continuously improve the plant
    • Support and carry out management philosophy and vision
    • Promote plant wide teamwork and positive morale

      REPORTING/COMPLIANCE/SAFETY

    • Insure that all leading indicator information is updated for the teams.
    • Insure that the monthly results meetings are scheduled and completed.
    • Using standard tracking and reporting systems: prepare detailed plans, drive project performance, and assure timely completion and achievement of product/process quality and savings goals
    • Accountable for the plant's annual CI goals
    • Responsible for driving Safety Performance in the Plant to achieve and maintain Gold Status (Goal of No Recordable / No Lost Time).

      HIGH PERFORMANCE TEAMS (HPT)

    • Participate in the HPT meetings and insure effectiveness of the meetings, scorecard data, and effective action plans are developed by the teams
    • Identify the top performing teams on monthly and annual basis. Coordinate recognition of teams
    • Insure certification process for HPTs, star points, star guides, and cross functional training are effective
    • Prepare and share with management monthly HPT results and recommendations
    •  Coordinate the development of scorecards and metrics for the HPT process. Review and recommend changes as necessary to meet plant objectives
    • Coordinate the formation of HPTs
    • Document HPT plans
    • Insure the HPT concepts are understood and used at all levels of the plant
    • Ability to train other employees

    REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

    • Bachelor's degree in Business/Engineering; some combination of plant operations experience, process knowledge, and training experience will be considered in lieu of degree
    • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Must be comfortable and confident speaking to groups, presenting, training, and motivating
    • Skilled in tactfully recognizing and navigating around potential roadblocks; finding alternatives to help move the organization forward
    • The ability to read, write, and speak English
    • Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the position
