PRIMARY FUNCTION

Hart to Heart Transportation is seeking a Lead Mechanic to work in a collaborative organization that offers employees opportunities for growth and skill improvement through our commitment to investing in the latest technology, tools, and training. The Lead Mechanic will work on all SEPTA-operated paratransit vans and buses and be responsible for maintaining the mechanical integrity and cleanliness of the assigned fleet so that the work environment is clean, safe, and promotes satisfaction and success for our employees and customers.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and HVAC deficiencies.

2. Make necessary repairs, replacements, and adjustments to fleet buses and paratransit vans.

3. Perform all repairs incidental to State Inspections.

4. Perform basic care and maintenance to include changing oil, checking fluid levels, and rotating tires.

5. Repair or replace worn parts, such as brake pads, wheel bearings, and sensors.

6. Perform repairs to manufacturer and customer specifications.

7. Document automotive problems and repairs for client and internal records.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Valid Class C driver’s license for 3+ years with safe driving record.

3. At least 21 years of age.

4. Certification for ASE Master Mechanic required.

5. Certification for HVAC/reclamation preferred.

6. Ability to pass pre-hire/random drug and alcohol testing, DOT physical, and criminal background check.

7. Demonstrated knowledge of service area and documented ability to determine the location of and arrive at a street address by use of a map book.

8. Minimum 5 years' automotive repair experience, including bus and paratransit van repair.

9. Certification for air conditioning repair and refrigerant reclamation preferred.

10. Possession of your own basic automotive tools.
