Location: Filer, ID

Duration: 6 months. *Seasonal position that will end in Sept 2022 after harvest.

SUMMARY

For those interested in Seed Production Technician role, then this is the perfect job for you. You will be responsible for closely observing plant growth stages and recording characteristic observations on plant varieties to assure patentability of material. Also, you will primarily be responsible for taking our PVP (plant variety protection) notes, which ensure we are able to patent new varieties of wheat.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Use careful attention to detail and task prioritization to ensure all plant characteristic observations are accurate and completed on time.
• Engage in clear communication with supervisors and colleagues regarding any updates, changes, or issues that arise. Regularly drive work truck between main facility and field.
• Assist with indoor seed processing and packaging activities such as receiving, scanning, cleaning, sorting, counting, labeling, or warehousing seed.
• Provide support for greenhouse activities such as planting, pollinating, data entry, and hand harvest. Interest in agriculture operations and plant breeding.
• Contribute to other seed production activities where required.
• Activities may require bending and lifting, long periods of sitting or standing, and working outdoors.
• In their downtime, they will assist with other greenhouse or seed processing activities.
• This person will need to drive a company pool vehicle.

SKILLS REQUIRED

• Experience taking plant characteristic notes.
• Familiarity with MS Office / Excel and other standard computer and software systems.
• Must be able to understand verbal and written task and safety instructions delivered in English, and to perform assigned tasks accurately.
• Must be able to adhere to all client SOPs and to support all site safety requirements.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required; bachelor’s degree not required but preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Driving is required for this position - use of client vehicle and / or more than 5k business miles annually
• Clearance to drive company pool vehicle.
