The Web and Graphic Designer, under supervision of the Executive Director and adhering to the Agricultural Marketing Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Guidelines for Research and Promotion Boards, is responsible for supporting the marketing/communications and industry affairs, retail data, and nutrition research teams in transforming everything avocado (e.g. recipes, nutrition science and industry data) into captivating and visually pleasing communication solutions for HAB’s target audiences (health professionals, general and Hispanic market consumers, board members, industry stakeholders) and delivering the highest level of usefulness, desirability and user satisfaction of HAB’s communication vehicles and content (digital and print including websites, newsletters, collateral).
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Update and maintain web content and provide visual and user experience enhancements periodically
Support web design and production needs for all HAB digital media. This includes: wireframing, design and production of web pages and e-newsletters, social media assets design and infographics creation
Create web design solutions that are compelling and promote optimal user experience. Conduct user testing, prototyping, and other user-facing activities to validate HAB’s websites’ design, interaction and content flow. Ensure optimal web functionality on desktop, tablet, and mobile
Monitor and report on task/end-user analysis and website performance alongside Digital Marketing & Communications Manager
Support graphic design and production needs for all HAB internal and external communications, including annual reports, collateral materials and power point presentations
Maintain brand consistency throughout digital and print communications
Responsible for organization of all HAB’s owned and stock photography library and creative assets
Manage the process of working with multiple teams to develop creative work product by establishing work flows (from concept to life) that allow for input and participation by program managers
EDUCATION & SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in graphic and web design
Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related field
Understanding the foundation of user experience (UX) such as responsive website, user interface design, heat maps, emotional design, search engine optimization, content strategy, and other relevant areas
A firm mastery of all Adobe Creative Suite products, including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and other web design tools, typography and Microsoft Power Point
Proficiency with HTML, CSS, Wordpress, and responsive design
Experience of using Google Analytics, creating wireframes/prototype
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and deadline-oriented
Food & beverage experience a plus
Stay on top of technology news, digital/web trends and the latest developments of coding language
Able to work in the Mission Viejo office

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The position reports to the Executive Director of the Hass Avocado Board but works day to day with the Director of Marketing and Communications, Digital Marketing & Communications Manager, Content Manager, Director of Nutrition, Category Data and Research Manager as well as the Director of Industry Affairs (Program Managers).
