    Overview

    The Maintenance Lead / EHS Assistant is responsible for coordinating the installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment. This position also oversees the Environmental, Health, and Safety program to ensure compliance with regulations and conducts safety training for employees.

    Position Responsibilities

     Prioritizes work with the Plant Manager and/or Corporate EHS Manager, tracks completed and pending tasks, and coordinates work with the Lead Men.

     Directs workers in terms of job performance, work rate, quality, and overtime.

     Demonstrates proper repair, installation, and maintenance techniques for electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic machinery and equipment. Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions.

     Maintains records of inspections, reports, and preventative maintenance duties.

     Ensures compliance with safety rules, company policies, and maintenance procedures.

     Trains new workers in proper maintenance, repair, and installation techniques and procedures.

     Provides input to Plant Manager and Human Resources for performance appraisals and participates in performance reviews.

     Oversees sub-contractors for various projects and ensures safety procedures are followed.

     Maintains a supply of spare parts to minimize downtime.

     Develops and oversees preventive maintenance schedules for machinery and equipment.

     Monitors inventory levels of chemicals and supplies for production and orders when necessary.

     Maintains cleanliness and organization in assigned areas.

     Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, NFPA70E, Lock Out/Tag Out procedures, etc.) and works with inspectors as needed.

     Investigates near misses and accidents, fills out appropriate reports, and distributes them to appropriate personnel.

     Ensures compliance with safety standards for cranes, straps, forklifts, fire extinguishers, flammable cabinets, and hazardous supplies.

     Demonstrates support of company policies, guidelines, safety activities, and procedures.

     Performs other duties as needed or requested.

    Qualifications

    Requires a high school diploma or 2 years of experience in industrial maintenance or hard chrome plating.

    Education and Experience

    High school diploma or GED; 2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associates Degree or higher in industrial maintenance or electrical engineering preferred.
