We're looking for a Fashion Writer to join our fast-growing team as we build a global fashion brand dedicated to celebrating and empowering the hijab-wearing woman.

The ideal candidate would have experience in fashion writing in general and specifically as it pertains to Muslim communities with knowledge of and interest in modest fashion and fashion trends. They would also be a self-starter ready to pitch stories and have a genuine passion for the intersection of modesty and fashion.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Write up to four blog posts/articles/how-to pieces and other content per month on fashion, modest fashion and the hijab.
• Work with Blog Editor on pitching stories, creating assignments and the editorial process of publishing an article from start to finish.
• Write compelling pieces that tie-in our products in line with our brand voice.
• Monitor the modest Muslim fashion landscape and be plugged into Muslim fashion influencers, bloggers, trends, and emerging styles on various social media platforms.
• Provide graphics and photos (that are free and fair use) with accompanying posts and articles for submissions.
• Participate in occasional editorial planning, check-in and brainstorming meetings with Blog Editor.
• Help make the Haute Hijab blog a premiere destination site for Muslim women and their interests, stories, issues, concerns, activism and ideas.

REQUIREMENTS

• Preferably a Bachelor's degree in journalism, mass communication, fashion or fashion merchandising
• Strong writing and editing skills and passion for well-researched and clean writing
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Previous writing and/or editorial experience (providing 3-5 samples), fashion writing strongly preferred
• Some experience with the fashion industry, especially modest fashion (beyond just an interest in fashion)
• Be familiar with current fashion trends/colors and topics that appeal to Muslim readers and consumers
• Proficiency with Gmail/Google docs/Google suite and Microsoft Office
• Experience with project management system Asana is a plus
