    POSITION SUMMARY

    HiAccounting is seeking a Tax Intern to join its tax division. The objective of the internship is for the employee to learn how to apply their educational experience to real life by working alongside tax and accounting professionals. This entry level position is challenging, technical and dynamic. The Tax Intern will assist in supporting the tax activities of HiAccounting by assisting with the preparation of both business and individual client’s tax returns. The Tax Intern will work closely with various members of the tax team, including the Tax Senior, Director of Tax Services and Managing Director.

    Prepare various Federal and State tax returns including but not limited to individual, trust, estate, nonprofit, partnership, and corporate tax returns.

    Assist when needed with other tax services including planning, research and compliance.

    Communicate with client personnel to request information necessary for the preparation of tax returns, to update clients on the status of their project and for general customer service reasons.

    Assist with administrative and bookkeeping duties including but not limited to:

    Mail tax returns as needed

    Update databases

    General Excise Tax filing

    Payroll processing

    Enter transactions for clients and review financials

    Prepare work papers

    Scan and bookmark source documents

    Prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines.

    Deliver best-in-class customer service to clients and employees at all times, with an emphasis on being responsive, professional, and accurate.

    Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with client’s employees, and co-workers to promote a quality service image.

    Follow company policies & procedures for preparing tax work papers and assisting in the preparation of tax returns.

    Protects organization’s values by keeping information confidential.

    Actively contribute to the overall positive culture of the company.

    Other duties as assigned.

    The ideal Tax Intern will be able to utilize their educational and leadership experience to assist with the preparation of tax returns and completion of other related tasks under the supervision of HiAccounting’s tax professionals. Intern has the commitment to continuing education of new and changing tax laws and policies, and possesses the skill set to ask questions and research.

    Tax Intern will meet most or all of the following requirements:

    Education: In process of obtaining a degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Business, Accounting or other related field.

    Experience: Not required. Work experience in a professional environment, which demonstrates progressive increase in responsibilities or any combination of education and work experience is preferred.

    Licenses: Tax Intern has the desire to obtain a CPA or EA license.

    Computer Skills: Beginner to proficient knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Knowledge of Ultra Tax, Lacerte, Drake, or other professional tax software, and knowledge of QuickBooks, AccPac, Intacct or other accounting/bookkeeping software would be helpful.

    Other Requirements: Perform other duties as required. Ability to follow instructions, work in a team environment, as well as work independently. Intern must possess strong verbal and written communications skills, maintain a positive attitude, and seek help/ask questions as needed. Accounting Intern may also be asked to work additional hours or weekends based on project demands.
