Position Overview An upscale dining operation in the Surf City area is seeking a Head Chef to take ownership of kitchen operations and help elevate the culinary program. This role requires a strong kitchen lead presence — someone who can drive standards, maintain consistency, and build a reliable, well-trained team. You will work closely with Food & Beverage and Front of House leadership to deliver a polished, seamless guest experience across dining service and events. Schedule: 45–50 hours/week Open Wednesday – Sunday
What You’ll Be Responsible For Lead all day-to-day kitchen operations with consistency and accountability Execute and maintain high standards for food quality, presentation, and timing Train, coach, and develop kitchen staff (line, prep, dish) Own food safety systems and maintain ServSafe-level compliance Manage inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships Control food cost, portioning, and waste without sacrificing quality Collaborate with FOH leadership to ensure smooth, professional service Contribute to menu development, seasonal features, and special events Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen at all times
What We’re Looking For Experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef, or strong Kitchen Manager ready to step up Strong leadership and team-building ability Solid systems mindset (prep, organization, ordering, cost control) Ability to stay composed and lead during busy, high-volume services Experience in upscale casual or hospitality-driven environments preferred ServSafe certified (or willingness to obtain) Professional, reliable, and detail-oriented Strong communicator who works well with both BOH and FOH teams
