The Head Coach (HC) position will be responsible for leading and managing the fitness operations across their specific Orangetheory Fitness studio. This role oversees the coaching teams, ensures consistency and quality of class delivery, and supports the professional development of coaches. The Head Coach works closely with the Studio Manager and ownership to align fitness programming with business goals and foster a high-performing team environment. Additional responsibilities will be determined by the Studio Manager and Franchise Owners. We’re looking for people to lead. To listen. To love what they do. As a Head Fitness Coach you can expect to perform the following duties:
Leading and motivating members through pre-defined workouts
Making sure members are using the correct form and offering corrections if they aren’t
Understanding the science behind our workouts specifically, heart-rate focused training programs in general and being aware of what the competition is doing
Recruit, hire, onboard, and train new coaches, ensuring compliance with Orangetheory and OTfit certification standards.
Mentor and develop coaches through regular evaluations, class audits, feedback, and performance plans.
Create and manage coach schedules, ensuring appropriate coverage.
Lead monthly coach meetings, and ongoing education to foster professional growth and team culture.
Provide direct mentorship, feedback, and conflict resolution when needed.
Ensure consistent class delivery that meets Orangetheory’s standards for energy, performance, coaching cues, and member engagement.
Maintain fitness room readiness, including equipment functionality, safety compliance, and cleanliness.
Collaborate with Studio Manager on staffing plans, operational needs, and performance goals.
Communicate updates clearly and consistently to coaching staff and leadership.
Act as a fitness ambassador, building strong relationships with members to drive engagement and retention.
Support new member onboarding, including Intro classes and Coach Consultations.
Monitor class performance metrics (e.g., utilization, attendance) and recommend improvements.
Promote and lead member challenges, events (e.g., Transformation Challenge, Mayhem), and studio initiatives.
Report regularly to Studio Manager and/or Ownership on fitness KPIs, staffing, and operations.
Partner with other department leads (Sales, Front Desk, Studio Manager) to ensure a unified, member-first approach.
Support studio operations and community outreach as needed.
Any other responsibilities requested by the Studio Manager or Ownership.
Additionally, you’ll need to meet these requirements:
Hold and maintain a current fitness certification from an education company approved by Orangetheory Fitness
Be AED/CPR certified
