Job Description
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Head Of Business Development to lead the development and execution of key external relationships that fuel our growth. This leader will cultivate, negotiate, and manage partnerships across healthcare systems, diagnostics developers, biopharma, and other strategic collaborators. The ideal candidate brings deep experience navigating complex organizations and structuring innovative alliances that drive measurable business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and lead a corporate partnerships strategy to grow national presence and support commercialization objectives.
Build and maintain relationships with senior leaders across health systems, biopharma, academic institutions, diagnostic developers, and payer organizations.
Identify and evaluate opportunities for co-development, commercialization, licensing, and distribution partnerships.
Lead negotiations, structuring, and execution of partnership agreements.
Serve as a liaison between partners and internal teams (clinical, R&D, operations, legal, and medical affairs) to ensure effective collaboration and alignment.
Monitor industry trends, evolving care models, and competitive activity to anticipate opportunities for strategic collaboration.
Provide representation externally at conferences, roundtables, and key meetings to position the organization as a partner of choice.
Provide regular reporting on partnership pipeline, deal progress, and ROI to executive leadership.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or related field; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, PhD) preferred not required.
Minimum of 7 - 10 years in strategic partnerships, business development, or external alliances within healthcare, diagnostics, or life sciences.
Demonstrated experience executing complex partnership deals from identification to close.
Strong understanding of the diagnostics and molecular testing landscape, including regulatory and commercial factors.
Exceptional relationship management, communication, and negotiation skills.
Experience navigating health systems, IVD/biotech firms, or academic medical centers.
Strong cross-functional leadership with the ability to collaborate across internal departments.
Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
Existing network of contacts within diagnostics, health systems, biopharma, and research institutions.
Experience in a startup or entrepreneurial environment.
Knowledge of CLIA, CAP, FDA, and CMS regulations.
Previous involvement in commercialization or market access for diagnostic products.
