About the Role As Head of Firm Operations & Growth, you will serve as the integrator and strategist, driving our firm's day-to-day performance and long-term expansion. You'll partner closely with our Founder (a seasoned family law attorney) to translate vision into action across all facets of the business. This means overseeing and aligning our systems, processes, people, and financials to ensure we deliver exceptional client service today while building the capacity to scale for tomorrow. This role is about sustainable expansion on a strong foundation, not scrambling through startup chaos. Our family law firm is well-established and mission-driven, with a healthy operational budget and a track record of success. We need a second in command who can refine what's working, build what's missing, and guide us through a period of strategic, values-driven development without missing a beat. Our ideal candidate has experience in orchestrating all facets of operations in a professional services business and has a passion for fast-growing environments. Specific experience in a law firm is not necessary, but is a bonus. If the details below describe your professional experience, regardless of industry, we would like to meet you! Collaboration & Autonomy: You’ll work closely with our Founder in a partnership built on trust, with no bureaucracy or ego. We’re looking for a second-in-command who’s excited about that work. Ready to join us? We'd love to hear from you. Please FOLLOW OUR PROCESS by sending a resume and either a short video (less than 3 minutes) or a letter of impact (your choice) to hiring@edwards-lawgroup.com with the subject line: "Head of Firm Operations & Growth – [Your Name]" Please also answer these questions in your video or letter: • What's the smallest and largest operational budget you've managed—and how did you use it to drive results in each case? • Tell us about a time you transformed culture or performance. What changed? • What's one infrastructure or process you built that made expansion repeatable? ****Let's build something meaningful. Together. Responsibilities: What You'll Own • Operations Management: Oversee and continually improve all operational functions of the firm – from office workflows and case management processes to technology and facilities – ensuring everything runs efficiently and effectively. • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and empower our administrative and support teams (currently 10+ professionals and growing). Set clear goals, foster professional development, build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance, and ensure nothing falls through the cracks as we scale. • Financial Oversight: Manage the firm's financial health in partnership with the Founder. This includes budgeting, tracking key financial metrics, and making data-informed decisions to drive profitability and sustainable expansion. • Strategic Planning & Scaling: Translate high-level vision into actionable plans. Co-create and execute strategies for expansion (with an eye toward launching in new markets like Jamaica), new service offerings, and scaling our operations – all while maintaining the quality and client care that we're known for. • Process & Systems Innovation: Continuously evaluate and refine firm-wide systems and processes to boost efficiency. You see what's not working, fix it fast, and design smarter ways forward, making excellence repeatable. Qualifications: We need a leader who thrives at the intersection of excellence and humanity. • Experienced Operations Leader: You have extensive experience in senior operations or firm management roles (e.g., COO, Director of Operations) within a law firm or a comparable professional services environment. You know how to run a tight ship and have a track record of making good organizations even better. • Financial & Business Acumen: You've managed operational budgets of $6M+ (NON-NEGOTIABLE) and can balance ambitious development with fiscal responsibility. P&L statements, forecasts, and KPIs don't faze you – you use them to drive smart decisions. • Systems Thinker & Doer: You love building systems that make work simpler, not more complicated. You can zoom out to design a 5-year growth roadmap and zoom in to fix a broken process by the end of the day. Seeing inefficiencies and crafting solutions is your superpower. • People-Centered Manager: You know that even the best systems fail without great people. You excel at leading and developing teams – setting clear expectations, providing mentorship, and fostering a positive, high-performance culture. Your team trusts you because you lead by example. We are looking for someone with a strong balance of building healthy teams AND delivering execution of the owner’s visions for the firm. • Strategic Partner: You're not just a tactical operator—you're a forward-thinking leader who understands how to scale a business, not just stabilize it. You get excited about partnering with a visionary founder, adding your expertise to amplify the firm's mission. You've probably read The Second in Command — or lead, like you wrote it. • Values-Driven & Impact-Focused: You understand that authenticity drives results. You thrive in environments where diverse perspectives aren't just welcomed—they're essential to excellence. • Communication: Our leader is a direct, candid, and concise communicator, and you need to be as well. If your style of communication is taking the long road, you’re likely not the right fit for this position. Compensation: $150,000
