Head of Brand Operations
Full-time · Hybrid (Wheaton, IL) · 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Central Time · $100K to $150K base plus bonus
1. Who We Are
Spicy Products is a brand accelerator on Amazon, Walmart, and emerging marketplaces. Founded in 2018, we partner with a select portfolio of brands to launch and grow their products on the world's largest ecommerce platforms.
Our model: We operate on a buy-sell model. We purchase our partners' products at wholesale and sell them across multiple marketplaces. We run the entire brand program, including catalog, advertising, inventory, creative, and brand strategy. We are a full service accelerator.
How we serve our brand partners: We treat every brand partner's business as if it were our own. We invest the time to deeply understand each brand's products, markets, and customers, and we apply that understanding to launch and grow their products efficiently and effectively on every channel we serve. We partner intentionally with a small number of brands so we can deliver the quality of work our brand partners trust us for. Our brand partners' success is our success, and we are relentless about helping them win in their market.
We are a growing company building a strong leadership team to scale into our next chapter. We run lean, and we expect every role to use AI to work faster and more effectively.
2. About the Role
The Head of Brand Operations runs our business day to day. You own the P&L for our brand programs, including margin, pricing, inventory, and growth, and you build and lead the team that executes. You report to the CEO and sit on the leadership team.
What you'll own:
- Own the P&L and make our brand programs profitable. You own margin and the product P&L. You set pricing, repricing, and promotion strategy. You win and hold the Buy Box on the products we have exclusive rights to, and you ensure unauthorized sellers are identified and reported. You review product profitability on a regular cadence and fix or discontinue underperformers. You own inventory planning so we stay in stock on our best sellers while avoiding overstock and aged inventory that ties up capital.
- Build and lead the team and operating system. You hire, manage, and develop the team that runs each function, including catalog, advertising, creative, and operations. You meet weekly with each direct report and run the team's operating cadence. You build and maintain the company's operating system of SOPs, templates, and tools, and you own our product master data as the single source of truth, so the business runs reliably and scales without depending on the founder.
- Grow the brands through launches and new channels. You deliver product launches that ship on schedule and meet our quality standard across every channel we serve. You lead our expansion onto new marketplaces, including Walmart, TikTok Shop, and future channels. You coordinate the team, our brand partners, and external partners to deliver growth on schedule and surface blockers before they become delays.
Requirements:
- 5+ years running operations and owning commercial outcomes at a brand selling on Amazon, an accelerator, or an agency
- A track record of owning a P&L at a brand selling on Amazon, or at an accelerator or agency
- Proven people leadership, including hiring, managing, and developing a team
- Deep Amazon Seller Central expertise across Buy Box, FBA, pricing and repricing, reimbursements, account health, advertising, SEO, and promotions
- Strong command of inventory management and demand planning
- A documentation mindset; you build SOPs and operating manuals as a habit
- An ownership mentality; you take full responsibility for the outcomes of your role, bring solutions, and follow through
- Fluent with AI tools and uses them daily to work faster and more effectively
- Advanced proficiency with Excel, project management software such as Asana, ClickUp, Monday, or Notion, and managing data across multiple systems
- Strong attention to detail with exceptional follow-through
- Strong written and verbal communication
- A resourceful problem-solver who proposes solutions, not just problems
Ideal experience: A track record of building something from nothing: turning ambiguity into structure and creating systems where none existed. You are a creative, resourceful thinker who thrives in environments where the playbook has not yet been written. You have grown alongside a company as it scaled from a small team to a larger organization.
