We are a high-growth company making our first full-time finance hire. This Head of Finance role is a foundational leadership position responsible for building and scaling the finance function from the ground up.
You will work closely with the President and executive leadership to own financial reporting, accounting operations, KPI development, and data-driven decision support. This role blends hands-on execution with strategic thinking and is ideal for someone early-to-mid career who wants real ownership, steep responsibility, and a fast track to senior finance leadership.
This is not a back-office role. It is a builder role for someone who thrives in fast-paced, high-intensity environments and wants to grow alongside a scaling business.
Financial Reporting & KPIs
Own monthly and quarterly financial reporting (P&L, cash flow, balance sheet, variance analysis)
Design, build, and refine core financial and operational KPIs used by leadership to run the business on a daily basis
Partner with the President on forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning
Produce clear, decision-ready insights for executives and functional leaders
Accounting & Close
Own day-to-day accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll processing, and month-end close
Ensure timely, accurate financials
Build & maintain scalable accounting workflows, internal controls, and documentation
Data, Systems & Automation
Build and maintain dashboards and reporting tools across finance and operations
Improve data quality and consistency across systems (CRM, Payment Processor)
Automate reporting and reduce manual processes wherever possible
Act as the internal owner of finance systems and data architecture
Business Partnership & Growth
Partner cross-functionally with product, marketing, sales, and leadership to support growth initiatives
Support pricing, unit economics, headcount planning, and strategic analyses
Help define the roadmap for future finance hires and tooling as the company scales
Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and intellectually curious
Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building structure where little exists
Equally strong in execution and strategic thinking
Technically adept and data-driven; not afraid to get into the weeds
Motivated by ownership, accountability, and long-term growth
Experience in a high-intensity financial environment (investment banking, trading, private equity, consulting, or similar)
Experience working in or closely with startups or high-growth companies
Strong foundation in accounting, financial reporting, and analysis
Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills; comfort with financial systems and data tools
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
(CPA, CFA, or MBA a plus but not required)
