Role Summary
Sonic Tools USA, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Head of Finance to lead the company’s accounting and financial operations. This role also serves as the U.S. Division Controller, responsible for owning the monthly close, financial reporting, cash management, and internal controls, while ensuring accurate and timely consolidation into Sonic’s global financial structure.
The Head of Finance will strengthen the company’s accounting infrastructure, streamline financial processes, and build a scalable finance cadence to support growth. While this role carries leadership responsibility, it is expected to be highly operational and involved in daily finance activities in a lean team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Controllership
- Own and manage the monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and preparation of financial statements
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
- Maintain and improve accounting policies, documentation, and financial procedures
- Implement and strengthen internal controls, approval workflows, and segregation of duties appropriate for a lean organization
- Manage cash flow visibility, including cash forecasting and working capital management
- Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
- Coordinate tax filings, audits, and relationships with external accountants and advisors
- Oversee and support the annual financial audit process, serving as the primary point of contact for auditors and ensuring timely and accurate completion
Hands-On Finance Leadership
- Lead the day-to-day accounting operations, working closely with the existing team.
- Establish a predictable finance cadence, including a close calendar, reporting package, and KPI reporting
- Lead the build-out of FP&A capabilities, including hiring and developing an FP&A resource and advancing analytics through tools such as Power BI
- Identify process gaps and implement practical improvements such as close checklists, standardized reporting schedules, and documentation
- Partner cross-functionally with operations, sales, and leadership to provide financial insights and support operational decisions
Financial Planning & Business Support
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
- Develop KPI dashboards and performance tracking to support business growth
- Provide financial analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making
Qualifications
- 7–12+ years of accounting or finance experience with significant controllership responsibilities
- Experience with inventory accounting, costing, and COGS management in a product-based business
- Demonstrated experience owning the monthly close and financial reporting process
- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles
- Experience improving financial processes, reporting, and internal controls in a growing or lean organization
- Experience overseeing AR/AP functions and working capital management
- Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to non-finance leaders
- Hands-on, proactive professional comfortable working in both strategic and operational roles
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA strongly preferred (or equivalent professional experience)
- Public accounting experience is a plus
- Experience working in growing or privately held companies
