Function:
Head of Research & Development will manage shared resources to support all formulations, samples, batching instructions, and scale-up responsibilities as well as manage all resources to develop products for RainShadow Labs customers.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Formulation of new and updating existing personal care products, researching new and innovative raw materials and technologies consistently
· Development and implementation of improved process control strategies for batch manufacturing and processing equipment, test methods, and new products to ensure continued improvement in production consistency and product development
· Lead the testing, analysis, and troubleshooting of any issues related to production, product development, or product stability. Suggest alternatives or contingencies to achieve the correct technical solutions with the most efficient resource utilization.
· Manage the day-to-day R&D customer inquiries surrounding the status of potential, current, and commercialized projects.
· Provide Technical Support to the Sales team for Potential and/or Current Customers.
· Timely completion of all required documentation (IL, MSDS, COA, Process/Batch Instructions, and Quality/Regulatory Documentation)
· Manage Raw Material Vendor sourcing and Regulatory documentation gathering and review.
· Manage the maintenance of laboratory equipment according to GMP and SOP standards.
· Coordinate with the Quality Department to ensure Microbiological and Safety Testing of all materials.
· Support Client requests to conduct stability as required i.e., track stability, update results charts, and summarize data for review at each test period—the ability to write reports detailing experiments, analysis, and summary of results.
· Meet and hold others accountable for regulatory compliance, product quality, and reliability.
· Balance flow of resources among projects, maintain project priorities, and recommend cancellation of projects that will not meet set objectives
· Supervise the formation of optimal cross-functional teams throughout the product development cycle.
· Develop and train associates to present and future core competencies of the company.
· Resolve conflicts within teams and between teams and other groups
· Provide ongoing constructive feedback and coaching to the team to develop their skills
· Some travel will be required to meet the needs of a growing company.

Education/Experience Requirements:
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in product development in the cosmetic & OTC industry as well as a
· Minimum of 2 years of managerial experience.
· Significant professional experience in area of expertise is essential
· Experience managing cross-functional product development teams is required, as is a demonstrated track
record of successfully bringing products from concept to market on schedule and within budget.
Master’s degree preferred; a combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
