Job Description

Headway Workforce Solutions is currently seeking Part-Time Field Interviewers to work on a research study in San Francisco, CA, and throughout the state of California. Data collection will take place between August and September 2020, with the possibility of continuing until October 2020.

As a Part-Time Field Interviewer, you will interview respondents face-to-face while working daytime, evening, and weekend hours. Also, you will drive to and from the field interviewing sites (mileage reimbursed at federal mileage rate), walking, and climbing stairs.

Due to COVID-19 rules and regulations, all employees are provided PPE (face shield, face mask, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, disposable masks and gloves, a box of tissues and a trash bag). Part-Time Field Interviewers will conduct interviews outside while wearing a mask and face shield and maintaining a distance of at least 6 feet (Interviewers are not allowed to enter respondents’ homes). We can provide additional supplies as needed. If you are not able to conduct an interview six feet away from the respondent, you can call them using your cell phone or provide a hard copy of the survey.

A Part-Time Field Interviewer, you will:

• Drive to and from designated field interviewing sites (located in diverse neighborhoods) to conduct a brief in-person interview.
• Read street maps.
• Interview respondents (either face to face, by phone, or hard copy) while using PPE equipment and maintaining a distance of at least 6 feet.
• Use a Surface Pro tablet to conduct the interview entering information provided by respondents and transmitting data daily back to the home office.
• Meet with the supervisor regularly both by phone and in-person.
• Encourage study participation.

Requirements of a Part-Time Field Interviewer

• Valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and a dependable car.
• Consent to a background check (includes DMV) and conflict of interest screening.
• Pass and complete mandatory paid training.
• Regularly work evenings and weekends.
• Familiar with a smartphone and related applications (Google maps).
• Familiar with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Qualifications:

• Prior survey research or data collection experience, or related professional experience preferred
• Bilingual in English and Spanish (reading, writing, speaking) PREFERRED
• Motivated self-starter, comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Comfortable traveling to and working with at-risk and underserved populations in a range of community and neighborhood settings
• Exceptional time-management, organizational, and record-keeping skills

• Travel frequently to respondent locations.
• Be outside and exposed to all types of weather.
• Be exposed to fumes and odors as might be expected in any outdoor environment.

• Climb stairs when necessary.
• Always wear a mask when conducting data collection.
• Communicate through speech and listening.
• Read text verbatim from a tablet or computer screen.
• Transport a tablet, cellphone, and survey materials weighing approximately 12 pounds.
