Women’s Health Services is seeking a part-time Health Educator/Counselor to join our team. As a team member you will be an important part of a well-established and growing independent abortion clinic.
Responsibilities
Provide patient-centered, non-judgemental educational and counseling services to those seeking abortion
Obtain informed consent for the procedure opted for, ensuring understanding of the procedure, risks, and aftercare
Provide education on contraceptive options and instructions for those prescribed
Assure that patients with special circumstances receive the services and support they need
Provide resources and referrals when appropriate
Accurately document all patient encounters
Facilitate intake and appointments using medical and financial guidelines
Requirements
Interest in reproductive health care and abortion access
College degree (in human services-related field) preferred
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to navigate stressful situations in a professional and compassionate manner
Commitment to working pro-actively on an interdisciplinary team
Computer skills required; electronic medical record familiarity preferred
Non-English language skills desirable
Training for exceptional new graduate, intern, or student candidates may be provided
