  • Responsibilities

    The purpose of this position is to supervise, plan, coordinate, and evaluate all operations of the aquatics facility.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees pool operations by reviewing daily, weekly, and biweekly schedules for groups, parties, and the public to ensure proper ratios are maintained. Verifies and completes paperwork concerning financial reports, incidents, and injuries. Maintains inventory of supplies for facility. Delegates and oversees the completion of all cleaning duties for the aquatic center. Ensures the integrity of all daily paperwork attendance, passes sold, and cash handling procedures. Checks equipment such as ladders, stands, and tables to ensure it is in proper working order. Provides customer service by reporting any patron or community issues that need to be addressed, communicating inclement weather closures, and communicating with potential patrons. Supervises staff by prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring staff are trained, ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures, maintaining healthy and safe working environment, and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.

    SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS: Performs other similar duties as required.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of Aquatic life saving techniques; Management principles; Applicable local, state and federal laws, rules, and regulations; Employee relations principles and practices; Budget principles. Skills in Monitoring and evaluating employees; Prioritizing and assigning work; Operating a computer and related software applications; Conducting investigations; Developing and administering budgets; Analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, projecting consequences of proposed actions, and implementing recommendations in support of goals; Responding to changing situations and needs; Handling multiple tasks simultaneously; Developing training programs; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

    LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training or equivalent; CPR and First Aid Certified.

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class typically require: kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

    Required Experience

    High school diploma or equivalency, with over one year up to and including three years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
