  • Responsibilities

    Under general supervision, responsible for highly generalized software development, maintenance and troubleshooting of a medium to high level of effort.

    Development responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, custom web development, database development, native mobile application development, systems integration, and highly specialized process development through all phases of the software design lifecycle.

    Required Skills

    • Conducts requirements gathering, analysis and documentation through the evaluation of service requests and with input from business owners.
    • Documents technical and functional designs for proposed solutions, and obtains sign-off from business owners.
    • Develops solutions that match the approved design in accordance with HPSJ software development standards.
    • Analyzes and diagnoses technical malfunctions of  custom built applications; designs and executes reusable test cases, in collaboration with business owners and peers, which verify functionality.
    • Performs peer review of programming code, database procedures and other items as required.
    • Prepares and maintains documentation, including but not limited to application documentation, status updates and project time.
    • Participates in team and division meetings to review changes to infrastructure and define business direction.
    • Provides training and guidance, and reviews work of less senior staff.

    Required Experience

    Required

    • Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or similar; and
    • At least four years as a software engineer in any vertical, writing business applications that interface with a centralized database server; or
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    Preferred

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or similar
    • Experience working in IT in the healthcare industry.
