  • Responsibilities

    The Health, Safety & Env Spec 2 provides expertise in the development, implementation and management of effective Safety, Health and Environment programs/systems. Routinely analyzes hazardous situations and identifies alternative courses of action.

    Required Skills

    · Performs audits and safety inspections of work environments, processes and operations in compliance with government regulations and industry standards

    · Leads the safety committees, analyzes hazardous situations and identifies alternative courses of action, while empowering members to achieve departmental safety goals and objectives

    · Gathers data for the purpose of identifying, reducing, or eliminating sources of pollutants and/or hazards that affect the work environment and health of the employees

    · Develop and implement programs and procedures to meet facility EHS objectives and targets

    · Accident Investigation/Prevention

    · Maintain EHS Regulatory Compliance

    · Energy management and use reduction

    · Waste Minimization

    · Effective utilization of applicable management systems

    · Coordinate/administer EHS training

    · Support and manage corrective actions from all applicable audits

    · Serve as on-site contact for corporate EHS, under their direction, for OSHA, state, local and other regulatory compliance affiliations for inspections, site visits, letters of non-compliance or informal conferences

    · Direct all applicable EHS reporting requirements timely and accurately

    · Maintain necessary EHS records

    · Ensure compliance with local and corporate EHS directives and policies

    · Direct and maintain requirements of the ISO 45001 & 14001 certifications

    · Champion and facilitate continuous improvements for safety and ergonomics throughout the facility

    · Maintain effective permitting obligations

    · Coordinate waste management programs (recycling, chemical, solids, hazardous waste)

    · Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures

    · Ability to research and analyze data effectively

    · Ability to gather data, to compile information, and prepare reports

    · Good/Strong/Excellence verbal and written communication skills

    · Presentation skills

    · Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task

    · Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines

    · Strong prioritization skills

    · Ability to visualize and plan objectives and goals strategically

    · Demonstrated ability to provide cross-functional leadership

    Required Experience

    Education Level: (Required): ** ** High School Diploma or GED ****or equivalent experience
