Job Brief
Will perform assigned safety, health and environmental duties as an Amentum employee onsite at the NASA Johnson Space Center, Ellington Field and Sonny Carter Training Facility. Participates in implementing institutional safety, health, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and national consensus guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Perform workplace safety inspections in a variety of locations including indoors, outdoors, roofs, mechanical rooms, confined spaces, asbestos work areas, etc. Occasionally inspect work scheduled at night, on weekends, and after normal work hours.
- Coordinate and facilitate specialized regulatory and non-regulatory safety training courses for affected employees to increase overall safety awareness and reduce incident reoccurrence
- Implement and review workplace processes and procedures that help protect workers from potentially hazardous work conditions.
- Assist in gathering data for safety, health, and environmental metric reporting.
- Provide timely and clear reporting daily of safety inspections, injuries, and safety issues
- Lead daily safety meetings.
- Gather, document, and report industrial hygiene data in the field
- Provide Safety oversite for special projects as required.
- Other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Experience in the Safety, Health, and Environmental field
- Degree in environmental, health, or safety or related field preferred
- Prefer a certification in environmental, health or safety
- Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.
- Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
- Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
- Must have, and maintain, a valid Texas driver’s license.
- Ability to work independently

- Ability to read, interpret, and apply regulatory codes and standards
- Ability to critically evaluate plans, procedures, and work performance
- Familiarity with US workplace safety standards and requirements
- Able to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding.
- Job may require long periods of standing
- Most of the work will be outside of an office setting
