    Description

    A Health Services Intern will be responsible for working with the Health Equity Director to implement strategies and tactics that support Amerigroup’s Health Equity Plan. The work will involve research and analysis, community outreach and engagement, writing policies and procedures, facilitating small and large group meetings, and supporting the reporting and accreditation process for the health plan.

    How you will make an impact:

    • Implementing outreach strategies that engage health care providers, community-based organizations (CBOs) and faith-based organizations (FBOs) in Health Equity, Population Health, and Social Drivers of Health initiatives statewide.

    • Working with data analysts to develop, maintaining and produce quarterly outcome-oriented dashboards for approximately seven initiatives that address health disparities around chronic conditions, maternal-child health, COVID19 vaccination and service and support for members with disabilities of all ages.

    • Conducting periodic assessments related to strategies and tactics for each initiative.

    • Assisting in convening quarterly Health Equity Task Force meetings as well as interim communication and data gathering as outcomes of each meeting.

    • Assisting with regular outreach to participating providers, CBOs and FBOs.

    • Developing and administering performance measurement and tracking systems for Health Equity, Population Health, and Social Drivers of Health initiatives.

    • Ensuring that records are maintained in accordance with applicable company policies and procedures, including with respect to confidentiality, data protection and information security.

    • Interfacing with senior clinical, legal, compliance, technology, data, and financial executives as needed.

    Functions OR examples of projects for this role:

    • Assisting with project management for seven health disparities initiatives including coordinating tactical implementation according to defined timeline.

    • Managing ten CBO and FBO contracts to ensure that critical Service Level Agreements are met

    • Reviewing legislation, Iowa Administrative Code, and CBO or FBO contracts for enterprise impact

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Ability to work 40 hours per week during the duration of the summer internship program

    • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Human services, Business/Healthcare Admin, Health Science, Public Health, Kinesiology/Dietics, or other related degrees at an accredited college/university

    • Students must be authorized to work in the U.S. without future visa sponsorship requirements

    Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

    • Excellent Communication skills, both written and oral.

    • Excellent Problem-solving, Analytical, and Organizational skills

    • Excellent Public Speaking and Presentation skills
