    Job Description

    JOB SUMMARY: 

     

    The ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST reviews, codes, and processes all invoices into the account payable module, negotiate payment terms and discounts with vendors, and provides general accounting support to major financial accounting areas. This position will provide customer service in a timely and courteous manner related to invoice questions to colleagues and vendors. 

     

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Upholds and supports the mission, philosophy, objectives, policies, and ethics of the Company.
    • Review and verify invoices, expense reports, and check requests. 
    • Sort, code, and match invoices, set up for payment, and input into the accounting system. 
    • Code all invoices not associated directly with purchase orders to the correct general ledger account and department. 
    • Track expenses and process expense reports. 
    • Prepare and process electronic payments and perform check runs. 
    • Negotiate payment terms and discounts and set up payment arrangements as necessary. 
    • Post transactions to journals, ledgers, and other records. 
    • Reconcile accounts payable transactions. 
    • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date; research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues. 
    • Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries. 
    • Maintain vendor files. 
    • Assist with audits, month-end closing, and daily site deposit postings. 
    • Reconcile petty cash. 
    • Develop and maintain regular reports as required. 
    • Perform all other duties as directed either formally or informally, verbally or in writing.
