OVERVIEW: Management Science Associates, Inc. (MSA) is a diversified information management company that for nearly half a century has given market leaders the competitive edge in data management, analytics and technology. Our IT/OPS division is currently seeking a seasoned WebFOCUS Senior Software Engineer to provide ongoing support and client requested enhancements. This position will be trained on configuration and application use of a new Business Intelligence (BI) tool. The developer will assist with documenting the existing WebFocus deliverables, determine gaps between the WebFOCUS deliverable and the new BI tool, and assist with the migration of said deliverables to the new BI platform. Strong Oracle SQL and DDL experience is required. A good understanding of retail/marketing data is a plus. While these WebFOCUS efforts may be considered a temporary, we offer the longer term position with the new BI tool if the candidate is interested on pursuing that direction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understand MSA’s business, data, and systems development environment
- Work closely with the Product and Project Managers to understand the business requirements
- Translate business requirements into technical requirements, which are adequately defined before development begins
- Work closely with the Data Architect to ensure that the data architecture supports these reporting and analytical needs
- Work closely with the BI development team to design and deliver reporting and analytical solutions that satisfy business and technical requirements.
- Ensure that objectives, epics, and stories are captured properly.
- Communicate status and raise issues to the stakeholders
- Drive architectural design decisions for reporting and analytical solutions
- Establish development practices/standards and ensure they are followed
- Ensure that the BI environment meets agreed upon service level requirements
- Engage the user community on our new Business Intelligence tool, nurture the adoption of a user self-serve reporting within MSA to replace the existing WebFOCUS deliverables
- Train users on the data configuration and assist with requirements and migration of the WebFOCUS reporting within the new Business Intelligence tool
- Help users design intuitive, interactive, and effective reports, dashboards, and visualizations

Required Skills
- Requires a four-year degree in Computer Science/Information Technology, Computer/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum eight years overall information technology experience. Must have the experience to work, train and lead at the highest technical level of all phases of systems analysis and programming activity, including modeling language, across the full scope of software development cycle.
- 5+ years experience leading the execution of reporting and analytics projects.
- 2+ years experience architecting BI solutions using WebFOCUS
- Demonstrated ability to lead the development of robust and flexible reporting and analytics solutions through the entire BI lifecycle
- Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders to jointly deliver BI projects
- Experience working with technical and business stakeholders to define business and technical requirements
- Track record of delivering high-quality solutions on-time and within budget
- Demonstrated ability to support the execution of multiple simultaneous BI projects
- Java Script, CSS, and HTML experience
- Experience with App Studio and its HTML Canvas
- Experience chaining controls in HTML Canvas
- Experience in customizing Master Files
- Strong WebFocus debugging skills
- Strong Oracle SQL experience
- Strong Oracle DDL experience
- Good understanding of retail/marketing data
