PATH is a global organization that works to accelerate health equity by bringing together public institutions, businesses, social enterprises, and investors to solve the world’s most pressing health challenges. With expertise in science, health, economics, technology, advocacy, and dozens of other specialties, PATH develops and scales solutions—including vaccines, drugs, devices, diagnostics, and innovative approaches to strengthening health systems worldwide.

PATH is seeking a Research Associate to join the public health team on the Diagnostics (Dx) Program. The Dx Program focuses on development of cost-effective diagnostics with a user-oriented perspective that addresses the needs of health workers, health systems, and patients in low- and middle-income countries. Through the three key phases of PATH’s product introduction framework—to innovate, introduce, and integrate—the Dx Program advances innovative diagnostic concepts and works towards their introduction and use.

The research associate will be integrally involved in evidence generation activities, including human subjects research, that informs product development and introduction. This candidate will already have a command of user research and clinical study operations, including for example, navigating IRB approvals, liaising with research partners to design and execute studies, and conducting landscape and situational analyses. On the job training will help the candidate develop an understanding of our product development principles and processes and the pivotal role that diagnostics play in improving health outcomes.  The research associate will be expected to interact successfully with a wide range of internal and external partners and to communicate complex concepts and materials concisely.

The research associate will be a critical member of multiple product development teams, working on a range of projects through the development, evaluation, and implementation phases and across multiple health areas and conditions.

    1. LEAD user research to inform and guide product design and development.
    2. SUPPORT product evaluations and operational research to measure performance and implementation characteristics among intended users in the intended contexts of use
    3. DEVELOP and MAINTAIN partnerships and collaborations that connect early product development efforts to downstream implementation and health system integration.
    4. SUPPORT business and proposal development in areas of new work.
