    The Center of Digital and Data Excellence (CoDE) at PATH works with government ministries of health, the private sector, and donors to strengthen the use of digital technologies and data for improved health services. Digital Square is one of CoDE’s flagship global initiatives. It is PATH-led and funded by multiple donors, including USAID and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to advance digitally enabled health services to help close the health equity gap. Conceived from the lessons of the inefficiencies and redundancies of prior investments in digital technologies for international development, Digital Square works with ministries of health to align adaptable, interoperable digital technologies with local health needs and brings partners together to improve how the global community designs, uses, and pays for digital health tools and approaches.

     

    The Deputy Director of Business Operations will be a key member of Digital Square’s leadership team. They will deliver critical data insights, champion business process optimization, and provide strategic support for Digital Square’s leadership team, as part of the Operations team. They will support the Operations team to facilitate the continued evolution of data-driven operational strategy and management. They will partner with cross-functional stakeholders to drive the success of the growing Initiative.

     

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide Project and Financial Management team with oversight, leadership, and guidance, ensuring that information from leadership meetings is cascaded and updates to practices are adopted.
    • Facilitate strategic planning exercises in partnership with functional leaders to build and maintain Team Charters, Success Metrics, Headcount Plans, Professional Development, Operating Models, and Prioritization Frameworks.
    • Establish Rhythm of Business activities, in conjunction with Program Management and the functional leaders, that allow leadership to inspect progress against the strategic plans established.
    • Provide high-level project governance – monitoring and tracking all delivery milestones, KPIs, resource allocation, and financial data. Create mechanisms to
    • Lead Project and Financial Management team to develop dashboards, processes, and/or tools to track financial targets and monitor operational performance metrics, diagnose root-cause, shed light on historical trends and patterns, and provide pacing against monthly and quarterly targets.
    • Improve management decision-making by delivering data-driven recommendations that are aligned with Digital Square and PATH strategy and quarterly goals.
    • In collaboration with Operations leadership team, appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made.
    • Facilitate the scoping and modeling of critical initiatives aligned to Digital Square priorities and obtain support and commitment from Digital Square workstream leads and various teams, providing continual initiative support through implementation and execution.
    • Champion and support strategic initiatives, such as business process improvement, time studies, cost containment initiatives, or global process outsourcing.
    • Collaborate, use, or create standardized processes or frameworks, and display strong partnership and leadership skills.
    • Perform data analysis and validation for creation of business and operational reporting. Tailor the story to specific audiences, collaborate with several highly skilled teams, join multiple data sources, and deliver solutions for current and future opportunities.
    • Collaborate with Operations and Program Management teams to refine and deploy trainings and standard operating procedures ensuring consistent implementation across activities and result areas supported by the Operations team.
    • Drive internal communications and partnerships with PATH Shared Services.
    • Escalate high risk issues and new opportunities to Digital Square executive leadership.
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

    • Current PATH Employee.
    • Bachelor’s degree required in business administration, public administration, nonprofit management or 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • An analytical problem solver comfortable tackling ambiguous, sophisticated opportunities and delivering a logical action plan.
    • Demonstrated financial and project management skills, with ability to use data to tell a compelling story.
    • Project/Program Management Certification (PMP, CAPM, CSM, etc.)
    • Proven success building and scaling cross-functional project and financial management solutions.
    • Knowledge of 2 CFR 200 and USAID regulations required; in depth experience managing large procurements with USAID and PEPFAR funding required.
    • English proficiency required; French skills preferred.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office software suite and ability to learn other financial systems/software.
    • Experience with Smartsheet, Tableau, and other Business Intelligence and Data Visualization tools helpful.

    PATH has instituted a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for all employees, interns, consultants, and temporary staff based in the United States. Individuals selected for job opportunities in the United States must be fully vaccinated, and show proof of vaccination status, upon hire. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, such as Pfizer or Moderna, or 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson.     REMOTE WORK:

    PATH continues to evolve to support our employees during the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, most of PATH’s US based positions are temporarily 100% remote, within commuting distance to our PATH offices. When PATH transitions more broadly to in-person work, we will operate with a hybrid workplace model. Hybrid employees must reside within commuting distance to one of our PATH offices. PATH’s US offices are in Seattle, WA and Washington, D.C.
