    Job Description

    Healthcare Staffing Professionals is looking for a Program Specialist to develop and maintain effective communications strategies, coordinate communications projects, and help implement initiatives to completion. Initiatives that the Public Relations Specialist will lead and contribute to include social media content development, planning press events and special events, managing the development and production of marketing materials, and overseeing digital asset management. The ideal candidate must have at least a bachelor’s degree, 5-7 years or more of similar or related experience preferred, creative writing experience preferably in the healthcare field, and strong project management skills. Candidate should also possess strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and strong attention to detail. The position is full time and will start immediately upon acceptance and employment clearance. The position is funded through March 31, 2021 with a possibility of extension given sufficient funding. PAY RATE $7,700 per month salary (Working a minimum of 40 hours a week) BENEFITS: 12 holiday days 12 sick days (accrued) 10 vacation days (accrued) HEALTHCARE Fully Funded Healthcare (Anthem Blue Cross), Dental and Vision, Life Insurance from initial start date. SHIFTS: M-F PROGRAM SPECIALIST JOB DUTIES a.    Work with the Program Director, Senior Project Officer, and other staff within the Nutrition and Physical Activity Program to develop, implement, and evaluate policy and program efforts that support the goals and objectives of CalFresh Healthy Living Program; b.    Coordinate collaborative efforts with contracted agencies, providing leadership, education, technical assistance, and coalition building, and make recommendations regarding modification of programs and policies; c.    Provide training and support to contracted agencies to ensure fiscal and programmatic compliance with County, State, and federal grant guidelines; d.    Convene and facilitate meetings with contracted agencies regarding grant implementation; e.    Collaborate with contracted agencies and DPH evaluation staff to develop project plans, instruments and tools, and ensure progress toward completion of programmatic activities; f.    Collaborate with DPH program staff in reviewing and approving plans and reports from contracted agencies; and compile, write, and submit programmatic reports as required by County, State, and federal agencies; g.    Prepare reports, correspondence, articles, and presentations related to Nutrition and Physical Activity Program and CalFresh Healthy Living Program goals, activities, and milestones; h.    Support contracted agencies in conducting nutrition education and physical activity promotion campaigns by developing fact sheets, implementation guides, and convening groups to discuss best practices; i.    Other duties as assigned by Program Director. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS •    A Bachelor's degree in education, nutrition, or other health-related field from an accredited college or university -AND- at least five (5)  years of experience in program development, program planning, or health promotion; •    At least one (1) year of work experience in public health, government agency, non-profit organization, or on behalf of a government agency in the development or implementation of school-based program; and Valid California driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation or ability to secure timely transportation for off-site travel to various community sites throughout Los Angeles County. Desirable Qualifications

    • A Master’s degree in Public Health or Public Policy from an accredited college or university with a concentration in education, nutrition, or other health-related field;
    • At least a bachelor’s degree, 5-7 years or more of similar or related experience preferred, creative writing experience preferably in the healthcare field, and strong project management skills;
    •    Work experience managing grant-funded, time sensitive projects;
    •   Ability to act with judgment, confidence, and personal initiative;
    •  Ability to work in a fast-paced and highly visible work environment;
    • Good interpersonal and external communication skills; and strong attention to detail; •    Computer literate and skilled in use of Microsoft (MS) Windows-based programs, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access); and •    Bilingual (English/Spanish).
