    Job Description

    Healthcare Staffing Professionals has an immediate need for a Public Information Officer 2 . The Public Information Officer II (PIO II) will assist with COVID-19 administrative efforts and will be responsible for developing, organizing and coordinating a comprehensive public information program for the COVID-19 Vaccine Administration Project for Public Health. The PIO will use his/her strong public relations experience and skills to maximize the success of the project by gaining public support and acceptance for the vaccine in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

    The PIO II will report directly to the Director of Communications for professional oversight and direction.

    The positions will start immediately upon acceptance and employment clearance and are initially funded through 11/30/21 with potential renewal.

     

    PAY RATE-

    $39.44 /hr working 40 hours a week

    HEALTHCARE

    Employer Fully Funded Healthcare (Anthem Blue Cross), Dental and Vision, Life Insurance from Initial Start Date.

     

    SHIFTS: M-F

    Employee will be working a minimum of 8 hours a day between the hours of 7 AM to 7 PM.

     

     

    JOB DUTIES

    a) Develops, organizes, and coordinates a comprehensive public information program regarding COVID-19 vaccine administration for Public Health;

    b) Establishes the objectives of the Public Health Vaccine Administration Project, and develops the strategies and tactics to accomplish these objectives;

    c) Consistently analyzes the extent of public understanding of the Vaccine Administration Project, and determines the need for adjusting strategies and tactics used for public information and educational activities;

    d) Develops and maintains relationships with radio, television, and the press for announcements of the Vaccine Administration Project, and develops material to be presented (e.g., press releases, scripts, talking points, pitches, etc.)

    e) Proactively works with reporters in the development of stories and in the dissemination of information regarding the Vaccine Administration Project;

    f) Pitches and coordinates radio and television appearances for departmental personnel and prepares materials for their use;

    g) Contacts and works with representatives of other agencies, both public and private, in disseminating information concerning the Vaccine Administration Project with the goal being maximum public utilization and benefit of departmental services;

    h) Coordinates with web, design, and social media teams to develop and strategically amplify content; and

    i) Arranges press conferences to promote public understanding of the Vaccine Administration Project; and

    j) Complies with all required Public Health trainings.

     

     

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Graduation from an accredited college or university -AND- five years of public relations experience, including the writing and placing of news and feature articles for the various communication media. *One additional year of the required experience will be accepted for each year of college required; and

    • Valid Class C California Driver’s License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

     

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Windows-based laptop or desktop device, with a speaker and mic;

    • Reliable Wi-fi/internet access;

    • Strong critical thinking and judgment skills;

    • Strong organizational and communication skills; and

    • Highly proficient in various computer programs, including Microsoft Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and other specialized programs.
